Ok either its just my cage or my ferrets are extremely fat. I have AFerret Nation 182 and no matter how I put my levels they contantly fall down. The hook pop out of the holes with a little weight applied. EX: frrrets hoppi g around they fall down. I lean on it a bit falls down. Does anyone have a cage that does this. How can I fix it. Im afraid its gonna fall on one of my ferrets or they are gonna get pinned under it.

I have a critter nation but it is the same thing.
Are you talking about the levels falling? I know that the first dozen times you put them in, they stick a little.
Do you mind showing me a picture of what is the problem?

There are the two hooks that ahng in the holes amd wgen the bouncing around the hooks pull right out of the holes and the whole shelve falls. Ill see if I can get photos of what I mean

Full cage levels intact Level picturing hook where it links into the cage. Fallen level Im not sure if the hooks are bent or something but my other ferret nation has the same hook setup and the levels do the same thing?

looks like the hooks that go into the hole are bent out. they need to be bent down more. I will see if I can get a pic of mine so you can compare how they are suppose to be. I never had this problem with my first 2 cages, and my ferrets used to be almost 4 lbs the last year. I seem to remember that last 2 cages I bought I had to bend them in to keep this from happening. Although I am not currently using this newer cage.
in your case it could be that he fabric and hook is keeping the hook from hooking all the way in. Do they fall out if you put them in without the fabric and clips?

They fall even with no fabric at all but with no fabric the poop in all the corners. Awesome if you can show me your hooks that would be great both my cages have the same hooks. BOTH CAGES were Bought at differnt places and at different times

Out of all the cages I have I do have one where the shelf is "unstable". The girls have that cage so not a lot of weight is involved but it doesn't seem to quite fit right and will slide out if a heavy weight is applied. ciao

Actually if you think about it. it probably needs bent out more so that it pushes on the inside back of the square tube when weight is applied. That way it will only come out when you lift straight up at the back of the shelf and then tip it to take it out. I will have to look at mine again. (I will try to remember to take pics of mine tonight)

It definitely does look like the shelf hooks are a little misformed. When you get them in, they look like they are supposed to. I tottally spaced looking at mine, but if it isn't resolved by morning, I will post pictures of my shelves.

I bought a new "extra" shelf from ferret.com and had this issue. I was pushing on it fairly hard though because it was angled pretty far upward (like, lower where it attaches to the cage and rising as it goes out). I don't remember doing anything special except wiggling it into place as deep as possible, and then putting the plastic top on after. I tested it pretty thoroughly (I was terrified of the shelf falling on one of my babies) and it seemed to stay in place after that.

msav, your cage looks like mine. (giggle) You can always tell a cage is lived in by the ferret fur in the nooks and crannies. lol

10 years worth of ferret fur. That half of the cage is a 142 with upgraded shelves.
