Ugh, I'm feeling like a total idiot right now.
A friend got her order from Dr Fosters & Smith, and along with the order there was packing peanuts in the box for shipping purposes, and she gave them to me to let Fez play in. He went crazy for them, absolutely loved it. After watching him happily play with it safely for a good several hours (not constant, but you know). I thought it was all clear. So naturally, my attention went elsewhere briefly - but I was still next to him on the couch, while he's in the box.
I noticed it went oddly quiet, so I checked in the box only to find him munching away on a packing peanut! I don't know how much he ate, but I pulled what I could from his mouth, which he hated! But oh my gosh! I feel like a total idiot now.
I did a quick google search and something came up saying Dr Fosters & Smith use packing peanuts that are dissolvable?? So what should I do now. Do I get worried, do I need to do something? Or should I be okay?? I'm having a moment... Ahhh!

I know they sell a dig box with their peanuts, and I believe they're made of corn starch? I have seen other posts that I can't seem to locate right now, that mention that it's okay if they eat a little, but you obviously don't want to keep using them if they'll keep doing it. Found it! holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/17281

The box is definitely out of sight now! I put him straight into his little carrier while I took the box out of the room, not trying that again!
But from what that post says - he should be fine? Just trying to figure out if I start stressing or racing out to get something for him. This is what I get for not having that ferret emergency kit ready! Hah!

Yep, he should be fine. Just watch out for anything unusual, of course.

DFS uses corn starch peanuts for packing. If it will ease your mind, get one of the peanuts and run it under some water. It will dissolve. He should be fine. At the worst, he may have a tummy ache if he ate very many of them.

The idea is if he's too fond of them don't let him play in them. Too much will make him sick. Perhaps, only using them to play with him thus being able to prevent him from enjoying consuming them. ciao

Well he seems fine this morning, silly boy giving me a worry! He's definitely not getting another chance to play with them again. He seemed in heaven though he was even sitting on his back laying in his pile of "amazing snacks" munching away on one he was holding in his hands - as cute as it was, gave me a scare. Sorry Fez, no more packing peanuts for you!!
Thanks for easing my worries everyone!
