Let us know how he takes it, poor fuzz, hope he passes it without needing to go to the Vet. Do you have a Facebook account, or are you a member of Holistic Ferrets on there? In emergency situations you can get responses more quickly or PM an experienced owner/admin/mentor, when mine fell ill my mentors were there, it was easier to update via FB. Just a thought, time is crucial during things like this.

If you need immediate help you can post here and there too, I'm Emily Renea Bledsoe on FB. Lots of members here are also on there. You can post your situation there if you want, when I have an emergency situation I PM my mentors on there back and forth, and post to keep others updated.

Definitely try the pumpkin mixed with oil and warmed slightly. Spoon feed on your lap if he will take it that way.

Sherry, Heather, bitbyter, after a suspected blockage she did the protocol and he had a big pumpkin poop now, should she continue protocol, if so, for how long? That's so great he passed something, this may sound nasty but dig through the poop and see if there is any rubber or any foreign object or particles in it. I'm gonna say continue the protocol, but want to check with the more experienced ferrents first as I'm not sure for how long. How is his energy? Is he any better? Offer him so food and see if you can get something in him.

Sorry I haven't replied in a while, it was 7am here when I collapsed, I really needed some rest. I checked thet poo - no foreign pieces.. he did cry a bit when he did it, but not as much as before. I gave him one more round of vaseline and one pumpkin and then he went straight to bed. He's been sleeping for the last 2-3 h. I imagine he was exhausted after being awake and tortured all night... he did have a taste of mushed hearts before that. I'll check on him again and see if it has improved or not, and rush to the vet if need be. Should I still give him pumpkin and vaseline?

Well I think we've established it isn't a blockage but you do need to find out why defecating is causing him pain. I think it's time to vet.

Yeah, I agree. He's had pumpkin stool again, even after so many hours... he whiined a bit now, but it was much better than yesterday. But it's time to figure out the problem

I agree. If he is still whining when pooping he definitely needs to be seen.

You've had a long night. The pumpkin protocol isn't fun. We had to use a large syringe and water down the oil. The vaseline went over much better.
How's he doing today?

Spoke to the vet - we can go anytime. Her advise was - if he managed to pass through those big poops, that means something was pushed down, even if in smaller pieces, and we didn't notice it (it was also covered in litter). However, it may have caused the exit to irritate, or an inflammation - She suggested we rub some vaseline on his butt a couple of times and see how he feels then. His last pumpkin poo now was without any whining. He ate a proper meal on his own, so we have to watch out the next time he uses the potty (after having normal, solid food). He's been active, he's been running around the house, trying to climb on all tables to beat up the plants, and was stealing stuff while my husband was unpacking groceries. If there's still a problem - we head out to the doctor right away. He should be awake soon to see.

That makes alot of sense. His poor bum may be irritated. I'm glad he seems so much better and is full of energy. How are you doing? You must be exhausted. Why don't these emergencies ever happen in the middle of the day, when we are awake and alert?
