I've been annoying everyone the last days about Gabe, but it seems like there is always something that comes up. And it seems like they agree on having emergencies on holidays or weekends. I noticed today that someone stole my rubber wristwatch from a room they weren't even allowed in. and ate a chunk of the rubber (around 1/2 or a bit more of a dime in size). I tried to find the missing piece anywhere... I don't know which one of the boys it was, but I suspect Aramis or Gabriel, they are the only ones interested in rubber (Aramis had a blockage surgery before, when he was about 9 weeks old or so). I gave vaseline to both, and as a result, after a while, I found one drop of poop with a lot of vaseline, and from the other one, just a very tiny poop. It does sound like blockage to me, at least partial, I just don't know which one of them it was. Maybe both though. They ate dinner now, I gave them vaseline and olive oil again (we don't have pumpkin here), and I'm waiting to see if anything else will come out, or if any of them vomits. Gabriel went to sleep, but Aramis is still active. The problem is that there is no vet open here until the 3rd of January, and if it is a blockage, it's a serious problem. Should I still continue giving them vaseline/fat/oil for blockage and hydrate them until we can see if for sure if anyone has a blockage? I'm running out of vaseline and everything is closed here until Friday! I may run to the only 24h pharmacy but that's as much as I can do... ( I'm worried, because if that small piece can cause a blockage and doesn't come out, Friday will be too late.... Does anyone have any advice?

They never do this when there are vets or stores open (headwall). Can you get your hands on some kind of squash....even baby food? You need to alternate 1 tbsp of the pumpkin or squash substitute with 1 tsp of vaseline every other hour. So, 1 tsp of vaseline wait an hour and then do 1 tbsp of some sort of squash....you keep going until you get a good squash stool. Can you separate your boys? At least by doing that you will be able to tell who's blocked up and who's not. Do you have any type of emergency vet? If your little one is blocked you will have to find someone to help him. Simple oils like fish oil, EVOO won't move blockages....you need the vaseline if nothing else. The one thing that is looking up for your guys is they're still eating and drinking. If they stop and start vomiting you've probably got a serious emergency on your hands. ciao

Aaaargh, all the stores are closed, even supermarket, small store, pharmacy... ( I might find a 24h pharmacy somewhere, but.. on the emergency hospital website it says they only have doctors there from the 3rd onwards. Sometimes, living in a country like this has its disadvantages, because EVERYONE gets holiday. I can;'t get anything unless some neighbour has some, and I'm out of vaseline as well.... (( Nobody vomited today, I foud poop in their litterboxes, but smaller than usual, and with nothing rubbery and purple in them. and the food in the cage was untouched. I'll try to separate them somehow, but the problem is that we have only 1 cage, with 3 levels, but there is a hole in every floor, and whatever I put there, they take away. I may just close 2 of them, and let one sleep outside, and when he wakes up, check up the poop.. I gave them some meat-bone-organ mush today with the spoon, and the "suspects" ate, but not much. I'll make sure they get water. Here are the poops that I got before that - really tiny. And this is after vaseline repeatedly. But they are very active, play, dook, nothing unusual, and they don't complain about their tummies whenI press them... We still didn't find the missing pieces of the rubber band, so I'm pretty sure they are in someones tummy..May be floating, because the pieces were smaller, and just block at some point?

Hard to say....keep feeding. No friend with some vaseline? I'm really concerned with the lack anything to move that piece through as it does look like they've eaten it (or at least one of them :slap:). I'm even more concerned because it appears you've got nowhere to go if things go south. Good luck. I will keep checking in, keep us posted ciao

Do you have any squash or sweet potato? If so you can boil and puree those and use it like pumpkin.

I don't, only normal potato, and I think that doesn't help... The only thing that I have that is more greasy than oil is lard or beef fat, does that work?
I'm asking some friends now, but these are probably the most unpopular items here. you can only buy canned pumpkin from the single american store in the city, that is closed today anyway, just like everything else:(( i feel like living in the middle of nowhere at this point...

Well it's better than nothing. I know it's not something we like to think about but being caught out without vaseline in your emergency kit can be really difficult. No drug stores open near you? ciao

I'd look for squash, pumpkin or sweet potato with nothing else in it.

Came back with vaseline only.. in terms of baby food, they had just powdered milk... I'll keep on with the vaseline. After a couple of servings, Gabriel did a normal poo, but this is what Aramis made: The white stuff looks pretty bad, I don't really know what that is. Vaseline doesn't look like that, he didn't have any eggwhites or anything...Now he went back to sleep, after eating some mush. After he ate, I heard him making some noises, but checked and there was no vomit. I start to think he is the culprit, I'll be monitoring him.

I'm not an expert (like at all) but I know that when they take Vaseline it coats their insides and they don't absorb any nutrients or anything. Maybe that has something to do with the white?

Might be that.. but the other boy that got vaseline didn't have that problem... and the white stuff has a weird texture too... uuuf:(
I really hope he just reacted differently to vaseline..
