Picnic at the Duck Pond - The Story Once upon a time, after a long dark winter the sun came out. It was a beautiful day and two little ferrets were ready to play! They begged and they pleaded and they finally convinced their mommy to take them on a picnic! To the Duck Pond! So they put on their harnesses, Koda red and Kenai blue, and finally went outside! The danced and they dooked and they played in the grass, with poofy tails coming out of their...rears. They watched the ducks and the geese and the gulls... and even tried to blow a few bubbles! (ferret duck faceoff!) Koda leapt with joy and pulled at his leashes, saying "Mommy let go! I want to catch feeshes!" Kenai meanwhile, didn't want to play. He said "Mommy I'm nervous, I don't want to stay!" Koda liked to meet new friends! While Kenai just wanted the picnic to end! ...To be Continued...

Koda of course, was not ready to go! But Kenai wanted just to go home! On the way to the car Koda saw a duck friend! And said just one more dip before it's the end? Then back in the car, to the kennel they went! Now that all of their energy was spent! the drove back home, and the picnic was done. But Koda said Mom! Wasn't that fun?!?! (you are home safe and sound Kenai) Please mom oh please can we picnic again? THE END!

Had to add in verbatum... Two boys rode by on their bikes at the pond... Boy 1: "Woah what's that?" Boy 2: "It's a Ferret. They're like rats, but longer" ......

HAha can I second wanting it in paperback? Perhaps a digital copy too. Love the pictures, looks like tons of fun! I'm hoping my new harnesses are here soon so I can try taking the kids out for a walk too. The prints on the rock is one of my absolute favorite. Great narration, I love that it rhymed in parts too

I loved your story. I think you should print it and save it for your kids, if you ever plan on having any. If not, for your nieces and nephews or younger cousins. I would have loved all those pictures as a child and the story is very cute. <3 Btw, Hiro gets scardey like that too. On the grass, he just starts shaking.

Awesome story! I was totally reading it like a nursery rhyme in my head, haha, definitely cute! Would make a good children's book! That comment was hilarious too, "they're like rats, just longer" hahaha
