hmmm odd. I see it now but not when I posted. I called the vet I got it from before. When they call back I'll get put on the waiting list i guess. Gonna have to give Jaffs another melatonin while we wait. Nothing else we can do.

Does everyone get it from Virbac? Teddy, my health challenged guy is due in March and he doesn't need another challenge. My other guy is due in February.

virbac is the us distributor. I don't know if it is available direct from Australia, but one of my vets ordered it direct from the manufacturer in late January and hadn't received it as of Friday.

The only place it was unavailable was North America. There have been no problems getting it anywhere else. The latest news we have (direct from the people at the manufacturing site in Australia) is that it should be available again in North America by March 1st.

Thanks for that encouraging update. I went to the virbac site again today to check and I read the whole ordering page and saw this
"Please note that your order will NOT be shipped in a cooler. Stability tests submitted to the FDA show that SUPRELORIN F Implant is safe for shipping at ambient temperatures."
If this is the case, why did an entire shipment get tossed because it was in a warehouse/ship without refrigeration for a week? That is the story I read on several sites.

That's weird. I've always heard that the substance used to make the pellet isn't stable if not kept at a cooler temp ciao

They might have changed the formulation for the pellet which COULD explain the delays. A small change in the product equals huge savings for Virbac since they won't have to store it in temp controlled warehousing.

Wish they would pass those savings on to us.

I think the price went down
The price now is $400 for a 5 pack and 180 for a 2 pack. That is the vets cost. I think that is less than what i remember last year.
Looks like they are requiring a sign in now to see their products. But they are not very good and securing their products from a google search.
I think ambient temperature is the key here. I seem to remember reading that they were subjected to a little bit too high of temperature for too long. (above ambient)
or perhaps they did make a change. I sure hope they tested it for safety and effectiveness after any changes. I am just speculating. I do not have all the facts.

and we've been hearing rumours of much higher prices. We'll just have to wait and see.

Prices look the same as last year, but they may as well be free if you can't get them.
