It's not entirely creative, but I attempted and succeeded at making liners for the CN today! My friend needed to go to Joann, anti-pill fleece was on sale and so were some of the sewing machines. It took me all afternoon, but I'm so happy with how they turned out. I'm going to attempt to make a hammock tomorrow to replace the snowman one in the upper level The bottom side is navy blue to match the blue circles. Your models today are Elwood, Dalia, and Domino.

Okay, so how did you do this? I got a sewing machine and have absolutely no idea how to use it. I don't have an FN yet but I plan on ordering one soon. Any advice is super welcome.

Desiree I'll be honest, this is only the second sewing machine project I've done in my life, so do not fret about difficulty! I got 4 yards of the circles and 3 of the blue. I have lots extra, 2.5 is probably sufficient if you do the cuts efficiently. I basically just measured the pans and gave an extra inch per side for fit/possible shrinking. Cutting straight lines is super hard. It's a lot easier if you have a 3' level (wish my dad didn't take his home!) as a guide. I sewed 3 sides together and made the top piece on the open side longer to create a flap. I then added Velcro to keep the flap closed so when my brats decide to dig, the fleece won't move. When you sew the top and bottom together, you just flip it inside out to make it seamless before adding the Velcro.

Desiree here's a picture of the flap/Velcro, if it helps. This is one of the half pans, you can see that Dalia is climbing it but it still holds shut. I did make the flaps longer on the full pans since I used larger pieces of Velcro on those.

Thank you! I do have a 3' level too. I'll practice a little before making liners.

Desiree There are lots of beginner sewing machine videos on youtube. I just bought one a few weeks ago and will be trying to recover my home economics courses from the depths of my mind (grades 7 & 8).

Wow, you did great! I love the colors and it all looks so comfy and cozy. The models are just darling. (giggle)
I have a sewing machine also and no idea how to use idea. I did all of mine by hand sewing and still haven't finished. But, you have inspired me. Maybe, I'll pull the silly thing out and try to use it. (shy)

Like I said above @poncesmom. LOTS of great videos on YouTube on learning how to sew.

@poncesmom the worst part is threading the bobbin for the bottom thread. If you can make it past that step without tearing your hair out, the rest is easy (in comparison, anyway). The nice thing about the pedal is that you can monitor the speed - I kept it slow to ensure I was going straight. You can also stop and readjust the fabric as needed. You can do it! I succeeded in making a hammock! I made it smaller as a test, as to not waste a lot of fleece if it failed. Since it worked out, I am going to make a bigger one for the bottom level.

mjbez thank you! I can definitely report that this method holds up, if you do it. Mine like to dig at the fleece at night when they're bored and it hasn't budged at all

Oh how i wish i could make cute sets for our rooms. I have bad ferrets both rooms have the raw food stasher, shelf pottyer, or water bowl digger. Between all that they just get blankeys hammocks and ramp covers. Adorable set though!

Domino enjoying the bigger one @fuzzbuttlove, I too have a water digger. I have an old sleep sack under the water in his area to stop it from saturating everything. I'm thinking of putting a puppy pad underneath the fleece in that corner because they like to move the sleep sack
