I have these: Only they're brown. They're excellent, but I also used to just use human clippers before. For ferrets it doesn't really matter I found the biggest difference was these clippers are much better for my cats as they don't splinter the nails, and the angle it cuts at means I can get very deep cuts without worrying about the quick. For Rolo I usually just put oil on his tummy - he doesn't sit still otherwise.

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll try the towel next time I clip nails. If nothing else, there's always trying to sneak it in while she's sleeping. I'll look at finding someone to help if those don't work. I think I'm scruffing correctly... She's limp at first, yawns a few times, then thrashes when she sees the clippers. She used to be okay with it, so I don't know why she panics now. I haven't ever hit the quick or anything.

Some ferrets have ticklish feet, I have had a couple that would sit still until you touched their feet. Then they would jerk their feet abruptly, even with 2 people it was hard to trim their nails.

Last time I clipped their claws, she was fine. I took her out of the cage first and gave her a bit of oil to calm down and she sat through all of it. Maybe she just doesn't like the idea of sharing her oil? Or maybe just a mood thing...

I put some ferretone (although I need to look more into this since I was recently told it's not too healthy) on their tummies and use regular nail clippers to clip!

We usually wait until ours are asleep and then carefully clip their nails. When their tired they do not like to wake up for anything. This way there usually isn't much fuss.

I use the tummy oil method and toenail clippers. I have a good amount of paralysis in my right arm and for me this has been the easiest way. I use toenail clippers because the claw clippers I am able to find are better suited for right handed people and just not efficient for me to use.

I like to sneakily clip their nails as they sleep, and they rarely notice! Stress-free for everyone involved!

Truthfully, I just wait until they're both deep enough asleep and then do what I need to. I don't know how great of a method that is but it works on my two furrbutts. Though, they have to be really deep sleepers. I use people clippers on them. It cuts cleaner than my pet claw trimmers do. I tried oil on Mei once and she was having none of it and ran around the living room. There's still oil stains on my couch.

I put oil on her tummy, she licks I clip, she doesn't know a thing I use cat clippers they work just fine. My new ferret doesn't seem to love that oil I must find some other method. I'll see maybe he is a deep sleeper so I'll do it while he sleeps.

I have to say because my ferrets are fairly small I hold them on my arm and just hold onto a paw and clip a few claws at a time. The adults usually let me clip all their front claws in one go, the babies it takes a few attempts doing just two or three claws at a time but they soon get used to it. I rarely have help and a few of my little ones have really panicked when I tried to put salmon oil on their tums!
I find I hardly ever have to clip hindclaws, they just seem to stay shorter. When I do, I put salmon oil on a saucer and they usually stand well enough that I can clip their hindclaws like that.
