With the oil, just dab some on your finger and let them lick it off. They're not really going to drink it, so to speak. It's more like just a taste. I have mine in an old ferretone bottle and just let them lick a drip off the top. Some people use a baby bottle.
Poor Charlie.. He doesn't understand why mommy is torturing him. Are you having to syringe his meds?

Yew, car agate followed by Pepcid and then pred. Thankfully he's done with his antibiotic. That was a nightmare.
I put it in a syringe so I could squirt a little drop and they can lick it off. They have caps which is great. I'll have to look for a small bottle with a nozzle tip. Baby bottle is a good idea too.
They are al still passed out with very full bellies over 6oz each today. They are getting so big. What a difference raw makes and in such a short amount of time. Amazing.

Did you give them slivers again tonight?

Yes, I did. Linus ate them on his own about .5 oz. and Ty, well, he ate half and ate around the other half. Little devil. I tried hand feeding what was left of the little chunks but he was full. He will be up in a little bit and I'll try again then. Or should I not push it?

If he's hungry, offer them but don't force him to eat.

I will be doing the same thing this morning. .5 oz. of slivers in each bowl. I'm also going to try EVOO today. Linus needs his nails clipped. The carnivore care will be here tomorrow and I can't wait for it to come. I just hope Charlie likes it.

If they're not protesting the slivers, increase both their size and the number you give them. How have you been clipping their nails? I can't imagine doing mine without the oil on the tummies. I did try scruffing and clipping a few times but it was a disaster. The oil is like magic, lol. One drip and we're good for all 20 nails!
When you get the CC, you'll mix it with water as per directions and then mix that into his baby food. The goal is to wean him completely off the baby food if possible without any stress for him. I think you'll find that the CC will add weight and hopefully energy fairly quickly. It's MUCH more nutrient dense than baby food.

Yes, I read about CC last night. I'm adding it to my emergency kit. Had no idea they made stuff like that I just hope he likes it. I do know that baby food was not balanced but he wouldn't eat anything at all. As a measure of last resort I gave him what he would eat which was baby food mixed with soupie. I'm also giving him Sub-q fluids and I've upped his carafate, pred and Pepcid by a bit and it seems to have helped today. He played longer and ate better so far. I just hope it continues. Baby steps. Linus LOVES the EVOO. He would have eaten the whole thing if I let him. I love having bribes in my arsenal. I gave him just a little bit after he ate his whole bowl. I did up the amount of slivers to .6oz today. Ty ate most Linus ate all. Ty I think is unsure about the oil. He did lick it a few times and he didn't draw back or anything. I'll try it again later. Cutting nails has been a 2 person job. Hubby holds them, no scruffing, and I clip fast. I am going to try the oil tonight and see if Linus will stay put while I clip him.

Please don't think I'm criticizing you for the baby food. I'm not! I definitely understand giving him ANYTHING just to make sure he eats. I just want him to have more...nutrition, energy, oomph for life. Whatever that takes! If you can get him switched to the CC completely, that can be his entire diet indefinitely, and then if you want to, we can start switching him to raw if he's up to it. And if he'll never eat the CC by itself, then by all means give him his baby food with the CC supplement.
As you increase the amount of slivers, also gradually increase their size and decrease the amount of soup you give them. The goal is more slivers/chunks with just a little soup "gravy" to get them started. Also, as their slivers increase/soup decreases, it's going to throw off the calcium balance. Not enough to be worried about at this point, but do be aware that you may start seeing looser poops. If that happens, let me know and we'll adjust as necessary.
For nail clipping, just drizzle some oil on his tummy, put him on your lap and show him the oil. You should then have both hands free and he'll be perfectly happy to let you have all 4 feet!

Ferret magic I hope. The only way he stays still is if my husband bounces a little. You should see us trying to cut tiny nails while bouncing. The thought never entered my mind. I know you are only trying to help and you are helping. I'm so glad that CC is balanced. He may not like it at first but he will eat it. He's eating great today since I upped all his meds a smidge and continued with the sub-q's . Okay should I do 1oz of slivers and 2 oz. of soupie? I will also up the size for Linus. Ty is still eating around some. Should I drench it in soupie and hand feed it or should I just see how it goes letting him eat on his own?

Yes, increase the slivers. How big are they now? With Ty, I would try letting him eat it on his own and if he doesn't eat enough of the slivers, THEN hand feed? He's the older of the two, isn't he? Therefore, probably more set in his ways, lol.

Yes he's older. Okay I'll do just that.
Also how much oil is it okay to give per week. I know it's just a treat but I need a limit for my husband who believes in the more is better philosophy of treat giving. Lol. All of our pets equate dad with food and treats. Drives me crazy.

Oil should be no more than a tsp or so per week. I don't usually measure it or anything though. If they just lick it off the bottle they're not getting much at a time. I use it for training, coming to the squeaker, potty training, weigh ins, nail clipping, if they're hesitant to try a new food, when they just sit up and beg for it. Too much will tend to make their poops oily, but I've never had a problem with that.

Okay I have to get a better bottle for the oil . I'm using a syringe and it's a pain.
I added 1oz. of slivers and 2oz of soupie. Linus has slightly larger pieces bc he was doing so well.
Charlie's CC came today and I whipped him up a small batch. He ate it. I can not tell you how happy i am right now. He ate about 2 tsp. all by himself. I feed him every time he's up so I'm hoping we will get to the suggested 6 tbsp. per day. Also did the same meds yesterday and the sub-q's too.

Hooray!!! Did he eat it without the baby food?
How did the nail clipping go?
Size of slivers now? If you have a way to post pictures easily, send me a shot of their next slivers. Also, I still need dangly pictures for reference.
