No kidding, right now they are on "chunky" soup for the time being since I don't have time during the holidays to get them to eat chunks of duck. After next weekend, I'll start adding bigger chunks and then reduce the gravy.

GOT A MEAT GRINDER! (dance) Makes it a lot easier to grind meat, shocking right? I ground up some duck, added some water and was able to get them to eat with out having the gravy and while it's still smaller pieces, I can work on added slivers and chunks to this. Also no more liver smelling blender or breaking the motor. Hand cranking is hard work though and the clean up is a pain but anything for my babies. I like how much they are eating, a little worried about the teeth cleaning they are missing out from the bone they aren't eating. (or chewing on)

Also I used an Oral Hygiene Rinse by Vibrac for their teeth. Even eating slivers is better than just soup, my Marcie had some plaque build up and being on slivers I can tell a difference with it getting better.

Awesome thanks! I might try the gauze thing. Wonder if my biter will let me near her teeth. I'd prefer to do it now and then get them eating bone again but it looks like with each new protein I will have to start over. That's okay. It'll be nice to have for grinding up organs too.

Cool! What kind of meat grinder is it? Brand name? I thought about getting one of those too. Does it work better than a food processor? Is the end product more like the texture of ground hamburger you see at the grocery store, rather than soup? (Sorry for bombarding you with questions!)

Pork went well for lunch! I mixed it with some duck and some soup gravy and they went right for it! Yay! I'm going to start adding in chunks too. Going to try another organ meal soon too.

Weigh in time!
Riot: 2lbs 4.5ozs which means he gained 1.6 ozs. Which is crazy to me because he doesn't eat a lot. Or it doesn't seem like he eats a lot. Rebel: 1lb 10.9ozs (i think, she's very wiggly) Lost 1 oz but since she gained so much on the pred I am okay with this. Also, she eats great for her size too.
They are on pork right now, no bones, sprinkling some eggshell powder on the meals when I remember to keep poops more solid, I'm going to do CGH next for some bone in(ness) but before that a good heart meal, then onto goat meat. Next week we are going to start introducing the organ meals on a regular basis.
Sun Am – CGH – BI Sun Pm – 1/2 Chicken liver 1/2 beef kidney (2oz, 2oz) – O
Mon Am – Smelt - BI Mon Pm – Duck Wings/Frogs legs/CGH - BI
Tue Am - Beef Heart – M/H Tue Pm – Chicken Wings - BI
Wed Am – Duck - M Wed Pm – Quail -BI
Thu Am - 1/2 beef tongue, ¼ pork liver 1/8 pork brain 1/8 pork kindey (2oz, 1oz, .5 oz .5 oz) – O/H(Taurine source) Thu PM – CGH - BI
Fri Am – Pork - M Fri Pm – Duck Wings - BI
Sat Am – Goat/beef/bison - M Sat Pm – Quail - BI
Proteins may be off but I want to stick with bone in meals (or use eggshells), muscle meats, and organs on a regular basis while moving them up to chunks.

Rebel likes soup. Anything soupie and she will eat it. I fed them hearts and organs, pork liver, kidney and brain and she was all over it. Riot on the other hand does not like the change in proteins. SMH! I had to dump some salmon oil on it but he ate it. They both ate 3 oz together. And we finish off the rest tonight, I'm sure. They ate really great today, finishing two oz of pork, some soup and big sized slivers and ate A LOT of their stash today, there is almost none left. I'm a happy ferret mom tonight. I'm not going to push them right now onto bigger chunks. As long as they are eating, I'm going to be gone for 8 days beginning part of January and won't be around to hand feed them.

Your menu looks good  Sorry nobody has posted here to you, it's been crazy the last month. But you're doing very well, we're proud of you! Sorry if you mentioned it before, I'm on my phone and it's hard to navigate, but are they on bone yet? I understand wanting it to be easy for whoever is watching them when you leave. Someone will be there to feed them won't they? I know of course you wouldn't just leave them, lol, soup will be okay for a week or so, I have to hand feed my Marcie her slivers, if I had to leave she'd probably have to go back on soup until I came back, my family is the "ew that's gross" and prances off type

They were on bone with CGH and Quail and had some bone in with duck, most of it was hand fed. I worked a crazy holiday schedule, today was supposed to be my first day off since the 11th (not including Christmas) and I still got called in. :pullhair: However with being at work sooo much, they have learned to eat on there own for the most part since I wasn't able to feed them constantly. In any case, they were trying new proteins, duck and pork, the pork has no bone in it so I'm sprinkling eggshells. Next is beef for a few days, with more eggshell powder. Yes, I'm leaving them with my fiance. He is practicing giving Rebel her meds now so that he can do it while i'm gone. Is it super bad to miss a dose of Pred? This morning, my sister nearly wrecked her car in our crazy snowy weather and I had to chauffeur her around town and Rebel's meds slipped my mind until I was telling the fiance to give her the meds tonight while I was at work. I feel bad but I didn't notice a difference or anything while I was with them this afternoon. In fact, she war danced for me the first time today. While I am gone, I plan on doing some CGH (maybe quail too) and ground chicken thigh, a meal of a hearts and their two organ meals. They WILL eat off the plate, I know they will. The trick will be convincing them to do it with some bone in while I am gone. I'm sure they will be fine. I'll introduce bone in again before I leave so they are familiar with it. Also, it's alright if no one responds for a while. It's easier for me to keep track of on here. Nothing new has been happening lately though just some ground meat soups with some chunks. (Riot is clearing plates now too!)

Agh sorry you're having to work a lot, especially during the Holidays. I would do beef for at least 5 days, 7-10+ if you can, beef is a more common allergy food, so watch their poops and activity level.
Missing a dose isn't very good for them, pred keeps their BG stable and their bodies get used to it, when they miss a dose it goes up and down, so watch her over the next 2 days or so and make sure she doesn't crash, but she should be okay, I've done that before, lol, guilty me.
Just make sure your fiance makes sure that they are eating, even if you have to stop bone while you're gone, as you know Rebel HAS to eat every 3-4 hours, and if making some soupy and leaving it out makes her eat better between meals that is fine. So are they off soup now, or on thick/chunky soup? Sorry my mind is all over the place lately haha.

I'll keep an eye on her for sure but she seems normal right now.
Should I wait till after I get back to start on beef? I have a week before I leave on vacation so I want to get them used to bone again too. I can do a good week or more of beef to be sure of any allergies. They aren't on the real soup recipe anymore. Since I have been introducing new meats, I grind up some meat, add some water and bone powder and give it to them. Once they are eating good, I add in chunks of meat, which they both eat. I am doing their meals of organs like in the weekly menu along with the meal of heart, plus the half meal. With each new protein it's almost like starting over which is why I want them on something they like and eat well while I am gone. She eats chunks or her stash in between meals too.
The only thing that will worry me is there is no way he is going to be able to tell who eats what while he is at work. Fact of life unfortunately. He works ten hours days. However, she is a good eater. First one to the bowl and often goes back to it. She loved CGH and chicken. She even likes organs.

You can now and start them back on one of their favorite proteins before you leave, one they will eat good. Have you kept track of what they have been eating? Can you post a menu for us?
If your fiance won't be able to keep track of their food, you can make a soup batch and have him feed it to them as one of their meals every day, to be sure they're getting something and its balanced. And have him leave out soup for snacks, to insure she will eat while he is gone.
