Boy are they ever cute. I can't wait to hear all about Bobby. @abbylee22, what is the name of your Tort Forum? I think you posted it once before, but I forgot. I've just learned that my sister is keeping her daughter's boyfriend's 80 lb tortoise. My sister also has a mini teacup pig Wilson who is close to 80 lbs. I wonder how they like each other? She lives in a suburb, not on a farm and has a swimming pool. I'm guessing the Tort wouldn't go swimming though, right?

It is called TortoiseForum.org Very wonderful and helpful people! Just like this group! If it is an 80 lb tort it is LIKELY a Sulcata, this is the most common species that large. And no Tortoises can not swim, he would sink to the bottom of that pool like a stone! Turtles do, they have the equipment in and out to swim and float. It's confusing, a tortoise can be classified as a turtle, but a turtle can not be a tortoise. We had a pot belly pig growing up, they are one of the smartest things on this good earth! She was an escape artist though and large enough and STRONG enough to get out of most pens. She even learned how to open the front door. I would guess that the pig and tort will likely not be friends... Sulcata's in particular can be aggressive and territorial and are big enough to hurt a lil piggy. One of the reason's I went with Leopard torts, they are a little more social and do better in groups than the bigger species.

Thanks for the info. I haven't talked to my sister yet, but I'll pass this along. Her Wilson has an attitude, but is smart and my sister just loves him.

Little bobby came home finally! Enjoying a baby carrot soak with Teddy. Bobby is the one with three dots on the scute behind his neck. He is much lighter too. The carrot soak helps with stress and observing vit A. Then we got weights, Teddy: Bobby And then time for num-nums

I haven't joined tortoise.com but I've been looking around. We also found turtleforum.com, which is for aquatic turtles like ours.
