I want to adopt ferrets, and i found this shelter in denver that has ferrets www.ferretdreams.org and i wanted to adopt these ferrets: www.ferretdreams.org/2014/05/13/were-available-cruz-pax-and-sidney/Apparently like 70% of Ferrets in the Us get adrenal disease, and this shelter will pay for all the medical expenses for pre existing conditions. The ferrets cost $100 for that pair. The Sable one has adrenal disease. Should I adopt these ones? Also, does deslorelin implants help a lot for adrenal disease? Thank You so much! oh and also is the Ferret Nation model 181 enough space for 2 ferrets, or would i have to get model 182? Thanks! (dance)

Of course! And it is WONDERFUL they are willing to pay for pre existing conditions. Ferrets with Adrenal, if properly treated, can live a fairly normal and long life. My little girl has Adrenal disease, she's 6yrs old. Deslorelin is usually the #1 thing to go to with Adrenal, it can help slow the disease too (not sure if that's proven) but it does great in combination with a melatonin implant, which is cosmetic so would help with hair loss and such. A ferret nation 182 is good for 2 ferrets, of course bigger is always better when it comes to cages how long are you planning on letting them out of their cage? If you have a busy schedule I would suggest a 182.

Most people prefer youngsters for obvious reasons, but if you have the room in your heart to adopt older ones, I think that's wonderful. I don't know if your shelter is willing to pay for the Deslorelin implants, but either way you should get them. My almost five year-old Marshall girl received her first implant about four months ago, and she looks like a totally different ferret. Her coat has improved so much (granted, they get winter coat this time of the year, but still...) and her weight has increased dramatically. She looks younger. She has never been this chunky and beautiful before! I hope you choose to adopt this pair.

I've contacted the shelter and they are already on Deslorelin implants and will pay for them! I will almost definitely be getting these ferrets! Thank You so Much!

Good luck and thank you so very much....there's nothing like the love that you will get from some of the older fuzzes who've had no possible chance at a forever home because they're ill. So many of these old timers or sickies deserve a good home but no one will take them on because they're ill. Thank you ciao

Seeing the ferrets at Petco always makes me feel bad for them, but I won't buy them because then I would just be contributing and funding more ferrets in pet stores. I always adopt my pets because I think they need another chance it wasn't there fault there at the shelter. I am also very excited that the shelter will be paying for deslorelin implants. Thank you!!

I'd do it... though of course make sure you have funds stashed away for future vetting. Honestly for me the diagnosis was the expensive part... constant rechecks & monthly lupron is very expensive!
Rolo just had is DES implant about 2 weeks ago and he has been doing great since then! He's like a brand new ferret again lol! It's much more affordable to maintain DES... $200/6-9months is not so bad if you have to maintain the costs from here on out.

You're so nice for adopting! That's what I wish to do in the future as well when my finances are more stable. They all just need a forever home to be loved.
