I've made some ground eggshells but I don't know how much to give, apart from when its for soup.
Yeah sometimes she will just pick around the bone, or nibble the bone until its a bit thinner, or if she does eat it, she'll only eat a chunk and leave the rest. I know they are only supposed to eat small bones like in chickens turkey, rabbits etc but I gave her pork ribs once and she knawed down the bone quite well on them just leaving the tough bit. Also wood pidgeon she ate the whole thing. I'm just running out of bone meat ideas that she will eat, and where I can still vary her proteins. She's also gone off chicken legs. Won't even touch them now for some reason! As a baby she would eat anything lol

Have you tried busting open the bone so the marrow is exposed? I had to chop the wings a little to get everybody to eat them

Ok i will try that. I chopped it into 3 pieces and she ate about half. So that's a start lol. Maybe if I smash it, the bone marrow will make her interested again. If small bits on bone come off, can she still eat them?

It depends on the ferret. My Marco will eat everything, but my girls tend to no eat bone by itself

Ok I've tried again, I'll see how she gets on! Tomorrow its liver and other organs. Just to check if I'm doing it right, if its 2oz liver and other organs does that mean altogether? I've been doing 1 oz liver plus 1 oz other organ. Is this right? Or do I need to add more liver? I worry about liver cus I know too much can be toxic..

about how many oz does she eat in one meal? organs need to be 10% if her total diet and Half of that needs to be liver. So you can do 5% liver and 5% other organs

Normally about 2 or 3 oz per meal

She needs to be eating about 3 to 4 oz of organs a week. So half of that has to be liver.

Ok, so this is what she ate this week. The ounces have been rounded up (I use grams which is why they are strange amounts! Although I normally weigh out meals at 56g which is 2 oz)
Also, I don't normally give so many chicken wings in one week but as she's been really fussy I've been trying to be persistent!
Monday: Chicken wing (1.1oz) Chicken Wing (1oz) Tuesday:Gizzards (2oz) Chicken Wing (slightly nibbled) Wednesday:Hearts (2oz) Chicken Wing (1.3oz) Thursday: Pork chunks (3oz) Turkey Leg (2.5 oz) Friday:Chicken wing (1.3oz) Ribs (2oz) Sat:liver/other organs/hearts (3oz) (1.3 oz was liver) chicken necks (2oz) Sun: soupie (2oz) lamb cutlets (2.1oz)
She also had an egg yolk this week and a table spoon of pumpkin just because shes been shedding again.
Now to weigh my little monster...wish me luck!

Wow she's a big eater! She sure doesnt like chicken much though!! Haha Well it looks like she's eating really well. Will you do me a favor and tell me which of those are bone in meals? Meaning meals where she actually eats the bones? I'm not sure if she eats the whole turkey leg or ribs or just picks around the bone.

The leg and ribs she eat half the bone, nibbling it down until its fairly thin. If i can i normally snap them in half at this point so she can lick the marrow. If I cut the chicken wings up with the bone still inside she will eat the whole chunk, bone included but normally not all of the chunks. Say one or 2 out of 3. Lamb cutlets shes does quite well with, she just leaves the round hard bit. Chicken necks are always a winner, she eats the lot. And muscle meats she eats no matter how many ounces but I try limit it. The food she gets most excited about is hearts though. She loves them! Its really hard to find suitable bone in meat. Rabbit is super expensive and wood pidgeon I can only get about once a month at the moment. Its also difficult that everything is in Dutch lol! So I have to try and translate everything. I've been trying to find an online barf store but they're in Holland (our neighbouring country) so I'm not sure if they deliver here. I would love to find some more weird and wonderful meats for my fuzzbutt. Oh I forgot, I tried to weigh the little wriggler, and it was flickering between 865 and 875g so its most likely somewhere in the middle. I will try again on egg day, as she will keep still then

Mine love heart too okay so I think we can consider those bone it meats as long as she eats most of the bone. I'm counting 9 bone in meals. 1 full heart meals (I'm not sure how much heart you put in the organ mix) and only 1 meal of organs. I think she needs to be eating a bit more heart (you can't really have too much) and another organ and heart meal

I think I will stop the soup and do another organ meal instead. Heart is a muscle meat no? So I could swap a muscle meat meal for another heart meal? In the organ mix I did 1.3 oz liver and the rest half kidney half heart to make up the 3 oz, although I think eventually she will eat 2 oz. Her appetite has slowed a bit as shes growing up.
