Since they are procreating like crazy I decided to build a rat rack. I found the link to these on this forum somewhere. rodentracks.com/The instructions leave something to be desired if you like to fully understand how to build it before you start. Although it is quite easy to decipher one you start building it. I bought enough materials to make 2 racks. I am going to see how this one works that way if i need to make alterations I can just build the other one correctly from the start. Besides I only need 1 rack right now. I made an improvised watering system. Now it is time to transfer them into it and see how it works.

I LOVE THIS! I feel like I'm going to have to build one of these soon.... I caught my asf's going at it the other day hehe so hopefully babies soon!!!

Looks great. I'm considering doing this but I think I'll miss watching them to much. Right now they are in clear tubs on a shelving system in my office.

I have already lost interest in watching them. LOL When you start getting so many. I am sure you will too. Beside I check them every day. I have to they are going through the food that quick. Got the water system up and running now.

The Edstrom Original Drinking Valve is made of solid brass material with a stainless steel stem and a tough elastomer seal and diaphragm. This model has a 3/16" barb connection for use with the Flex-Tube plumbing system. A great valve for rats, rabbits, chinchillas and other larger rodents.
How it Works: To drink, animals simply move the stainless steel stem by biting or licking, releasing water. When the animal releases the end of the stem, the elasticity of the silicone rubber diaphragm located behind the stem head pushes the head back to the closed position, stopping the flow of water

Ok so The issue that Jason had Got be a bit worried. Are my ASF's getting water with the new water system. I was especially concerned with the babies. I made one more modification to be sure. When I setup the watering system. I did not think much about the heights that the valve would sit at. I drilled the hole a bit high. I was wondering if they would be able to reach. My other concern was the hole I drilled Would they be able to get a hold of that edge and start chewing and be able to chew their way our. So I decided to address both concerns
The mesh should allow them to climb up to get to the water valve. I noticed a few of the Youngest babies drinking out of the valve after the modification, so I think it is a success.
