Answers:
1. List 2 good sources of taurine.
Heart and tongue (cow)
2. How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? (be specific)
By his poop~ if it's not formed well and watery, too soft then it's too little bone but if he is constipated, or poops look dry and hard or chalky, then it's too much bone! (oh poor Coco, his poops were like this before, oops)
3. In an emergency (you run out of bone), what are 2 acceptable bone substitutes and how much should your ferrets get?
Eggshell (1/2 a tsp for 8 oz chicken) or bone meal powder (also 1/2)
4. Organs should consist of approximately how much liver, and how much "other" organ?
1/2 liver and 1/2 other organ
5. Give 2 examples each of muscle meat, edible bones, and organs.
muscle meat: chicken thigh (darker meat and its fattier) and rabbit meat
edible bones : Quail and chicken wings
organs : pork kidney and uterus
6. How much and how often can egg be fed?
One chicken egg a week! (During shedding season, eggs can be fed 2-3 times per week to help prevent hairballs from forming.) And you can give the whole egg or just the yolk.
7. How can you tell if your ferret is the proper weight?
by looking at a 'dangling picture' to see if he has a waistline?
8. Is dark or white meat a better purchase choice?
Dark meat for more nutrients and more fat
9. How many heart meals should be fed per week?
two meals!
