This is Maddie before her first trip to the groomer. Her coat was still pretty yucky at this point. And my personal favorite..

Aw sweet story! I hate those back yard breeders... but all of mine are from them, I mean 3 were adopted and 1 bought. My dog was bought by one, before I knew what they were or how awful they were. Lucky that Maddie was saved by you guys, a lot of dogs don't have such luck.
I'd say yes keep her on whatever she will eat, and very, very slowly introduce new foods. Most dogs like hamburger meat, well, hamburgers (giggle). Maybe she could do grinds for a while? Maybe some ground turkey or something, familiar texture. Does Maddie like to chew on bones or toys? If I cut off all the meat my picky ones happily take the bone. My dog ate 2 chicken wings (meatless) the other day in like 10 minutes. Be sure to tell her not to give Maddie, or any dogs, rawhide, it swells in the stomach and can be harmful. She may know this already though. And Maddie is very, very cute.

What a little cutie. So chicken wings, necks ect would be great for her eventually. But yes, if your mum is more comfortable feeding mince/grinds/mush what ever you want to call it there are loads of companies around that sell food in this form. I buy these as part of my dogs diet, mainly because it is cheaper but also convenience and so my OH can still feed him raw, as he doesn't like playing with bigger bits and he tries to swallow food rather than chomp, so it has to be held at first to get him 'chew'.

Just one quick question: Is there any weekly menu to feed a balance raw diet for dogs? I'll be switching mine soon but can't find any of those weekly menus I see to feed ferrets. I've read about only feeding chicken the first week or couple of weeks, then slowly add some more variety. But I keep reading and I don't seem to understand how to feed daily. Maybe one day chicken legs, other pork ribs, other organs...(?) Hopefully you can help!
