i am devistated and ready to burst into tears. Apparently the apartment we live in doesn't allow ferrets which we were never told the only thing they said to us when we moved in is that there is a monthly fee for cats and dogs and we were told not to read that page of the lease because we didn't have any. Someone complained about the ferret smell which I can barely smell myself normally unless I am cleaning the cage or I have him up to my face. And my husband and room mate think the same thing.
We now need to find him a place to stay either long term if the person is willing or until our lease is up and we can find a new place. He is completely healthy as far as I can tell very active and very friendly. He is mostly switched over to raw already and has a single ferret nation cage. He has been by himself his whole life but I am guessing he would be fine with other ferrets. I would let you have all his stuff and if it was only temporary I could help pay for him if need be. He is almost two years old.
Right now I am just really depressed and want to die. My husbands parents won't take him and my mom isn't answering her phone but I doubt she would take him either for more then a few weeks if it was needed.

I just contacted the two ferret shelters that are close enough for me to get too and we are bringing him to my moms right now because they desided to just tell us now when my husband went to talk to them about it that we have to get rid of him in 24 hours even though on the phone this morning they said that we just had to find a place for him to go soon or they would start issuing us warnings.

The shelters should agree to board him for you. I can ask a group I'm in for shelter owners if they know of anyone in your area that can help. Let me know if you'd like me to do that and if you are looking for foster or forever homes. How long until your lease is up?

It will be at least another half a year till our lease is up I am not sure. I am looking for either someone to take him short term if they cant keep him or a completely new home for him. If you can try to find someone to help that would help a lot I looked up all the ferret shelters I could find in the area and I found two that were within an hour and had a working petfinder or website.

I'm so sorry, that's awful. It doesn't even sound really legal, although there's probably a blanket clause in the lease that says something like "or anything else that bothers us". Depending on the language in the lease, you may be able to negotiate an extension and/or an early no-penalty release from the lease. You could even mention (or go to!) small claims court, that's usually where landlord/tenant disputes get resolved (without expensive lawyers).

Oh No, not sweet little Mister. I'm so sorry. I wish I knew a way to help and I hope that someone will have a solution for you. Have you posted on the HFF facebook page?

That's not fair! I wish I could watch him for you, but I live in Chicago I would definitely help you out. I'm sorry about it.

Rats are ok but ferrets are not? The rodents I've had (gerbils and hamsters) smelled way more than ferrets. Let me look on another forum about a possible home. No promises, but I'm going to copy/paste your post in a pm.

I have found someone in Portsmouth who is willing to work with you and provide Mister with a temp home, if you are willing to drive there. PM me and give me some contact info to send along.
