Ok. It took us longer than it was supposed to to get her 4 doses, which is on us. We'll give her the last dose of vas as soon as we get back. We have her playing in a smaller area to make sure that we can monitor her effectively.
She is constantly finding stuff. We realized that she can occasionally leap onto the table if a chair is left too close- we previously thought she couldn't climb a chair without a long coat on it. I frequently catch her eating stuff that we don't know how she got a hold of (which is now beginning to make sense now that we know she can get onto the table). My fear is that she's eating stuffing out of the futon that she likes to hide in. I feel bad, but I sweep constantly and we keep everything off the floor and out of typical fert reach. There isn't more we can do outside of leaving her in her cage 24/7, and obviously we'd never do that.

I hear ya! My little girl has just recently learned how to climb. She is obsessed with height and anything out of her reach. Drives me nuts! I'm always afraid she's going to get something she shouldn't have.
Just keep up with the pumpkin and vaseline. We'll keep our fingers crossed that if there is anything in there, the pumpkin will push it out. HOWEVER, if she is straining to poop, lethargic, or vomiting, get her to a vet immediately!

We got a poop! (dance) I was going to send you a picture, but for some reason, my mac is being a complete *ss and it takes about eight years to load a page. It's a serious radioactive-orange turd! She hasn't had a poo this big since she was on kibble. But fortunately, there doesn't appear to be anything in it. Sheesh, I thought I'd have a few kids before I'd ever be this excited about poop! Anyway, thanks for your constant support. I'll try to have my final menu up in a couple days, since it should be just the occasional tweak here or there.

Yayyyy! Since there was nothing in it, I'd say you're probably in the clear. She may have a couple more funky poops while her system gets rid of the Vaseline.
How does her bottom look now? Still prolapsed or normal?

Her bottom looks all nice and normal again. She seems pretty pleased with herself!

Just FYI, if she gets a mild prolapse that won't recede, sugar will help it. Just plain granulated sugar... Put a little on the prolapse and hold her for about 10 minutes so she doesn't lick it or rub it off.

Ok, here's my final menu! (dance) I included some meats that she'll eat one day and not the next, so there's a section at the bottom allowing for the suggestions you made earlier. They're not fully incorporated into her menu yet. Btw, we noticed that her breath is funky. She's gotten lazy. She loves to be hand-fed and almost does eat if it's just left in a dish for her. More importantly, she's not eating her bones. I know I can resort to eggshell powder, but I just feel like she's regressing. Do I cut the bones into smaller bits?

Hahaha... Piper is playing you guys like my kids are playing me. I made the mistake of hand feeding them a meal a few weeks ago. Now they want ALL their meals at least cut into bite size pieces if not handed to them one bite at a time!
Eggshell is not a permanent solution. Neither is bone meal. Cut the bones smaller and work her size up again like you did when she first started on bone. It shouldn't take as long this time. She knows HOW to eat bigger pieces. She just has to get used to the idea that you're not going to baby her forever.
If her breath is bad, you may want to have her vetted. Bad breath could be just dirty teeth, but it could also be a symptom of something more serious.

We're keeping an eye on her breath. For now, I'm putting her in her cage with smaller chunks of meat and bone. She tends to pout and disappear into her cuddle cube, but it's better than her lingering underfoot in the hopes of being hand-fed.
I'm so excited that we're almost done. Can I still message you if I have a problem in the future? I'll miss having a teacher I can always turn to. Of course, I realize you'll have other students that will need you.

Of course you can still message me. Just because you graduate doesn't mean we won't help you any more. If you have questions, you can either message me or just start a thread. I've submitted your menu for review. We're just waiting for approval now.

Congratulations  You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone. You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days Sherry will lock down this thread and place it in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly :wave3: :thankyou: ciao

We did it! Holy cow, we actually did it! We are so luck to have had you as our mentor, Gina. I'm so happy for Piper and a little sad that I'm no longer your student. Please continue to update me on you & your ferts when you can!
