So, we recently(twoish months ago) moved to a new house and the water comes out p gnarly; this gross yellowy greeny color.
Mom almost immediately goes out and buys this huuge Pur filter for the fridge; one of those huge ones with the little tabs that sits on a fridge self and you push it open like one of those office water coolers(I, living in the basement w my own kitchen and stuff, got the old Brita when we found it while unpacking).
The thing is, she gives the dogs water out of the tap. She rushed out to get this huge filter and she gives her precious baby dogs the gnarly water.
I dunno, maybe I'm more bent out of shape about this than I should be but I can't bear the thought of letting my rats(now rat) or the cat drink that stuff; I always fill their water up from the Brita, and I probably wouldn't drink that tap water unfiltered unless I was like, dying from dehydration.

I do the same. Our water isn't too terrible, just rusty, but I fill from our fridge filter and not from the tap.

Has the water been tested for issues? If the discolouration is due to mineral deposits and not bacterial problems it will be fine for them, but may taste different.
