My little girl just died today.
My mom noticed she wasn't moving in the cage and went I went to pick her up, she was cold. It looks like she went peacefully, but I still feel so guilty that I didn't take her to the vet because I knew she wasn't well.
We're going to bury her on Sunday with our other pets on my dad's farmland.
She's the one in my signature and she was always such a little brat. Hope she doesn't torment everyone up on the Rainbow Bridge.

She was just over a year old, we think.
The other two haven't realized she's gone, I think, or maybe they're not mourning because they have each other.

Oh my god so young! Do you have any clue as to what was wrong? Was she giving signs? Sometimes they just go downhill so fast that you don't even have time to assess the situation. I am so sorry.

I think it was an enlarged spleen. She was still eating, drinking, pooping, and playing so I figured a vet could wait until we could afford it. It was only a few hours between when I put them up after playtime to finding her.
Thank you. She was only my second ferret and this was very sudden. I'm sad, but glad she's not suffering anymore.

I remember that thread. I'm sorry. If she did have an enlarged spleen it could have ruptured. If that is the case, the chances of survival are not very high. I remember you wrote that she was antisocial. Sometimes that is a sign of pain. Ferrets are stoic animals. They mask illnesses so well. But when they are in pain they just want nothing to do with anyone.

I' very sorry you lost your little baby. Don't feel guilty, you did not know she would pass that quickly if at all. Its just a part of life that we all go through, and she knows that. She is at peace now, pestering all the other ferrets. I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm trying to not blame myself but I just knew something was wrong. I feel like I didn't do good enough for her and that she'd still be here if not for me. That I didn't give her a kiss when I put her to bed for the last time and that I didn't at least check on her before my mom found her. I just assumed that it wasn't too bad and that she was tough enough to wait but I guess she didn't have the fight in her.
I'm incredibly grateful that my other two are happy and bouncing around without a care in the world and that they keep checking up on me. I'm really gonna cherish the time I have with them a lot more now.
