Chicken wings...work great. My kids that eat raw chicken wings or any type of raw bones. I don't usually brush their teeth. They are pretty clean.
Ferrets that eat kibbles, I usually brush them once a week. Once month check to see if they need to be scaled.
I hope this helps

The sooner you start the better, it will be easier the younger the ferrets are. By six months of age the type of food they prefer is imprinted in their mind and it's much more difficult to switch over.

What about ferrets that are in the "switching" process? Should their teeth be brushed once a week until they are on bones to prevent tartar build-up in the mean time? If so... for those of you that do brush what do you use for a "brush"? Ferret toothpaste or is cat toothpaste okay?

I use this, myself. My kids love the peanut butter flavor but I only brush their teeth every other week or so. I bet you could also use something like baking soda on a damp rag to scrub any excess plaque off if you were adverse to the stuff in toothpaste.

Thanks Heather - what kind of fish oil is best? I'm allergic to peanut butter Hails, so that's a no go! Sherry - you are a mind reader! Thank you!

I use some stuff I get locally. I would guess any small marine fish oil would work though. It was suggested that I use olive oil but my spoiled brats hate the stuff and will only eat it if it's cut with fish oil ciao
