Alright so I was curious how many of you have how many litterboxes per Ferret Nation cage, sorry to those of you without the cage... I made a poll option just for you! lol. I'm curious if I should place a second litterbox inside my FN 142 when I do get it. Also if you could reply with your answer, how many ferrets you have and why that many... and maybe how often you scoop? Thanks!

It doesn't allow you to do multiple choices...I have 3 ferret nation 142 and a 141 I only use one litter box in the 141 but use 2 in all the rest of the 142s. I presently have 10 free roaming ferrets and scoop daily. I have a small private hospice. ciao

I'm not sure how to answer....between the two 142's I have 8 litter boxes.... all different shapes and sizes. trying to keep all the corners covered...but to no avail someone refuses to use them....

Well won't let me modify the poll. Do you have any reason for one in each level? Just due to so many ferrets or did you find that you had accidents if you didn't?

Oh wow Rose, that mus frustrating! Do you think it's cause the boxes are dirty or just a stubborn ferret?

I have 1 litter box in my 142. Only 3 ferrets. Besides Dixie everyone uses it fine. Top is feeding area and sleepy area, bottom is potty and more sleepy area. I'm hoping once I a bigger box it'll stop accidents.

Do you find that one box larger is more ideal as opposed to two smaller boxes?

I like all the poop in one spot. It might help some fuzz to have 2 options to potty. But Pixie and Trixie never really accidents. Dixie is special...

I prefer to separate the feeding area from litter stuff

Let's see.... yes it is very frustrating, I do believe that there is a stubborn hold out that refuses to use the litter box...who it is I have no clue. I scoop their boxes and clean up any on purposes daily. There is always at least two or three boxes that don't have poo in them when I scoop...one because they sleep in it..the others I have no clue why the choose not to use them.... not in the right corner? BUT I have all corners covered so....my guess is as good as yours! How many fuzz? 11...why I have 11...because I am a victim of ferret math, and I just don't know how to say No to a fuzz in need!

Hehe Rose, that's alright I understand, though I've never had more than two at a time... one day that will change.

I have three fuzzies: two kits, roughly 5 months of age, and a 1-2 yr old in my 142 I just have one very large pan that covers half the bottom floor. I started out with two high-back pans, one on each floor, but they spent more time pushing them around and knocking them about than pooping in them. now I just have 1 large pan secured to the cage via c-clamps so they can't knock it about (although they try). no accidents thus far. I usually scoop once a day, unless I notice them "dancing" about the cage like they're looking for a place to go, that means the box is too dirty for their liking and I'll scoop then as well. it's just a large cat litter box that I took a sawz-all to to cut a hole into the side

Did you file the side or find that it's too jagged? I'm considering making my own litter box if I get the FN cage.

Did you file the side or find that it's too jagged? I'm considering making my own litter box if I get the FN cage. It was definitely too jagged after using a sawz-all.. I am no handywoman so I did a horrible job, haha. But it only took about 20 seconds with a large metal file to make it nice and smooth.
