AH! So much cute early in the morning!! He's so beautiful, and he already weighs as much as my Minnie-girl, lol.
Any more progress with August? And is Ian eating everything on your menu?

He is still eating kinda little portions, definetely less than August is. But at least he is eating frequently. Today for breakfast was 1.76 oz beef chunks. It lasted about 8 hours, whole day. When he finished I gave him 2 mice for dinner. He haven't eaten them yet. He eats quail bones well, but leaves frog legs and chicken wing bones. I think he just needs to built a little more jaw strenght.
I put them together today again and it's still not going well. I am not interrupting so much anymore but it breaks my heart to see how scared Ian is with August. He is absolutsely petrified, not moving at all, only hissing a lot. And August is passing so much horrible smelling fart, the whole room is stinking hard.

I'm sorry but I had to laugh at August's farts! Is that a normal thing for him, or just since Ian's been home? Is August still attacking him? I know it's hard now, but just think how much fun they'll have once they figure out how to get along.
I'm surprised that he's eating so little, being in the 'tummy with teeth' stage, but if you know that he CAN eat the food and it's available for him but he's not eating, I suppose he's getting as much as he needs. His weight is good and he's gaining and energetic. How is his poop? For those chicken and frog bones, you can try cutting them lengthwise like you did for August.

August had his anal glands cleaned when he visited the vet and after that he hadn't passed his gas once after that. But now that Ian's home, August is doing it every time they are together. I think he is trying to scare or threaten him. And yes he is still attacking. There is no blood, but Ian is peeing and pooping almost every time out of fear. I'll try to make a video so you could see how it looks like.
Ian's poop is very nice and firm but just tiny, no loose stools. I will try cutting the bones.

If Ian is fear pooping every time, go very slowly with introductions. Try finding a neutral area that August doesn't get to play in and introduce them there so August doesn't feel that he has to 'defend' his space against the newcomer. If you have something with Ian's scent on it, put it in August's bed with him so he can be getting used to Ian's smell. Same thing with Ian.. give him something in his cage with August's scent on it. I know August loves to be outside. You could try taking them both outside to explore, but it would be safer to have someone help you watch both boys.

As far as August gassing off, I'd say that's probably a dominance play. It should quit again once he accepts his new little friend. I hope for your sake that it's soon!

Ian is eating very little again. It seems that the only thing he wants to eat is mice. I have been weighting him every day and the last 2 days he haven't gained any weight. So far he has gained about 30 grams every day. Weather is really bad here right now, it's cold and raining hard so I can't take my boys out.

But he has eaten other things since you've had him, right? How are his activity levels and poops? As long as he's eating something, isn't LOSING weight, and is acting fine I wouldn't worry too much. A lot of factors can affect their appetites, including weather for my ferrets. I've noticed that mine don't eat much when it's stormy for several days at a time. Has he been vetted yet? If not, or if you're really concerned about his appetite, it would be a good idea to take him and rule out any health issues.

Boys have moved into one room with their cage. Two levels in the cage are sepparated right now. Ian lives upstairs and August downstairs. They are not best friends yet, but yesterday I bought them a play tunnel and they both loved it so much they forgot to fight for a while. August is still gassing off every time they are together but little Ian is more confident now and starting to fight back and standing for himself! He is almost 1 kg, reaching August's size soon. Ian absolutely loves herring, it's his new favorite food. We have some trouble eating bones still, he even cleanes the meat around the tiny quail wing and leaves it untouched! But he is eating quail back with bones well and still loves mice very much. I give him 1 chicken tail everyday as well as a treat. This morning they had organic lamb heart and chicken gizzard and tonight will have quail again.

It sounds like you're making progress! That's good to hear And Ian's eating better and starting to stick up for himself, so YAYYYY!!!! I feel like you're ready to graduate from the mentoring program. How do you feel about it? If you're ready, I'll send you a few test questions to answer and you'll need to post a final menu for approval (or I can use the one I posted last week).
