Wow, I feel like I have a different ferret already!
I know its only been 24 hours since I asked the question, but so far I've not been bitten.
Got home from work had an hour and half of play, chasing, playing with a t-shirt etc then I put Percy back into cage for an hour while I cooked ate my dinner (I need to ferret proof my kitchen) then after I opened his cage and picked him up for sleepy cuddles as he was asleep. Which was a first I've never woken him up! Currently his exploring my sofa and all the pillows!
Thank you so much for telling me he needed chasing!

the one great thing about this forum is it teaches us to understand and speak the ferret language. They are talking to us all the time it just takes some time decipher to understand what they are saying. Some are extremely intelligent and understand what we are saying already and are trying to find a way to make you understand what they want.

The Couch game can be fun. Pull a couple of the cushions away from the back, Tilt a pillow or two and then he will run thru the "tunnels" and you can wiggle a toy or something.
Mine chase each other under, over and thru the couch. It's a wild game and gets everyone all excited.

Don't forget lot's of positive verbal reinforcement when your ferret is behaving in a way that makes you happy. Mine respond far more to me making a big deal over a positive behavior than they do me showing displeasure over a negative.
For example getting really excited when they are playing with out biting and telling them how good they are.
Or instead of scolding when they go out side of the litter box, act like they just did the most amazing thing in the world when they do go in the litter box.
This works far better with my ferrets.
