Hi AManda! Just updating! I am sorry I have not posted the weekly Menu's yet!I have been working very diligently since Saturday two rescue and rehome two ferrets here locally and I have been in and out of the vet with one of them who has been sickly. I will be traveling tomorrow to transport these babies to a new home and should be able to get my menu up sometime tomorrow or the next day! Everything is well here with my four. Ive noticed some green poops from the girls again ( i have not seen any in a while) I am starting to think that its because of a certain chicken (wings) I feed that I get locally nut Im not for sure yet. The boys poos look great tho! Ok Thats all for now. Thank you!

Yay so glad you could rescue them! I saw your post about it on FB. It's been super chaotic here so I feel bad that I haven't posted myself. School and work are kicking my butt.
Is the wings that you feed antibiotic free? We have a mentor who's girls cannot eat regular chicken from the store, has to be hormone/antibiotic free because it causes weird poops and diarrhea.

1. Ferret's name:Shift 2. Ferret's weight: 1.84 Lbs! 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal. Fairly Hefty bowls of soup 3x a day and usually eats additional Kibble and FDR a few times a day also. I am working on the boys to eat very minimal kibble...I have been adding alot more FDR into their bowl in between soups. SO far so good! 4. Stools on various proteins. Normal Finally! We have a bad poo every once in a while, but I just add some probiotic to the next soups and they get better again. 5. Activity levels: Normal. He is back to his old self! Exploring and playing. and Sleeping alot too, but not more than normal 6. Weekly menu: Shifts weekly Menu consisted of the same thiing every day and 3x a day. Its NV frozen raw lamb (ive been adding more of this and now add no raw chicken at all!), Stella and Chewy's Dandy Lamb FDR, Ziwi Peak for Cats Lamb formula, NV Lamb Raw boost powder formula. Apart from Shift's soups, he will eat kibble if he is hungry. It is still Wysong Epigen and NV Duck and Turkey formula. I also crumble the Dandy Lamb FDR over the kibble. 1. Ferret's name:Cam 2. Ferret's weight: 1.95! LBS 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal. Fairly Hefty bowls of soup 3x a day and if shift has any left over soups, Cam always eats that too LOL. He still snack on some kibble and mostly FDR. 4. Stools on various proteins. Normal Woo! I still give him some probiotic every once in a while too. 5. Activity levels: Normal! HE has been playing a little rougher with the girls but all in good fun! Cam's weekly menu is exactly the same as Shifts For my goals on the boys, I would like them to eat primarily FDR and possibly some raw chunks in between their 3 soup meals. I have increased the amount of FDR I leave out for them and less kibble.

The girls eat a lot of chicken. Do they like other proteins?
I'm glad the boys are gaining weight, winter is coming! Hopefully they will both gain some chub. I think feeding them the FDR and raw chunks is a good idea. Feed them as much as they want, my boys typically double their intake of food through the winter.. once they stop eating as much, I know a summer coat isn't far behind.

Well Chicken seems to be a favorite. The main reason I feed chicken the most is because I have limited access to much else. I do order online from Hare today, but I only have so much space in my freezer. I do plan on getting an additional freezer by december though! (after I get both the girls spays paid for). Then I will be able to order much larger orders from hare Today. The only other proteins I have access to here in town that I try to offer the girls (which would be just muscle meat) is Lamb, veal, pork, and beef (we dont really do ground beef, which I actually think that is what veal is) I did just get some pork yesterday too This leads me to a question tho...what other small bones can the girls consume besides chicken? They eat chicken necks great, which is our fave and then they eat chicken wings, but they are picky about wings sometimes so I find that if I chop the wings up in about 1 inch pieces that they will eat them just fine. On the girls poops, they are looking better again..not green lately. I checked packaging on chicken wings and it doesnt really give me any info (just doesnt say anything) about added hormones or antibiotics. The only thing they say is no ingredients added and not processed or minimally processed...

1. Ferret's name:Shift 2. Ferret's weight: 1.74 Lbs not sure why he lost an ounce..maybe because he is more active now? Normal for the most part..yesterday they were too runny all day and today has not stopped (may be associated with the weight loss) 5. Activity levels: Normal. He is back to his old self! Exploring and playing. and Sleeping alot too, but not more than normal 6. Weekly menu: Shifts weekly Menu consisted of the same thiing every day and 3x a day. Its NV frozen raw lamb, Stella and Chewy's Dandy Lamb FDR, Ziwi Peak for Cats Lamb formula, NV Lamb Raw boost powder formula. Apart from Shift's soups, he will eat kibble if he is hungry. It is still Wysong Epigen and NV Duck and Turkey formula. I also crumble the Dandy Lamb FDR over the kibble. Ive noticed Shift is eating more kibble between meals and less soups. I must curb this behavior...or find a different kibble that is not chicken based. He does eat the freeze dried Lamb that is with the kibble, but he also tries to pick out the kibble only...This could be associated with the bad poo Possibly. 1. Ferret's name:Cam 2. Ferret's weight: 2.04! LBS Woo! Woo! 3. Cam's weekly menu is exactly the same as Shifts

Weekly Menu for the girls! I portioned out there organs for the week on Sunday. So please note that I will write organ mix on the times that I fed the organs. This weeks organ selection consisted of a mix of Beef Kidney, Chicken Liver, and Chicken heart. I fed about .6 Oz of Heart. .4 oz of Beef Kidney, and .5 oz of liver PER FERRET, throughout the week. This was not a successful organ week. My fault, I was so busy the past week, that I did not portion out their organs at the beginning of the week like I usually do and the half of the time Sophie snacked too much and did not want to eat any organs I think I was leaving out too much raw and they were snacking through the day. I will post girls together since they eat the same thing each day 1. Ferret's name:Zoe& Sophie 2. Ferret's weight: Zoe 1.84 lbs Sophie 2.23 lbs 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal. about 1.3 oz per meal, will eat some and come back later to finish the rest. I thought they were eating a bunch more food at the beginning of the week but I found a new meat stashing spot where they were snacking right before dinnertime! Brats! 4. Stools on various proteins. Better mostly brownish or normal per raw/organ diet and just a few weird ones here and there 5. Activity levels: Normal :)Wild as ever for Zoe(which is normal LOL). Sophie has been sleeping more but its because of her spay. 6. Weekly menu: Monday AM:Chicken thighs. PM: Chicken wings Tues AM: Chicken & Turkey Thighs, and wings chopped up. PM: Chicken & Turkey thigh w/carnivore raw Wed AM: FDR Duck & wing tips. PM: Organ mix, plus a little bit of pork liver (still not loving it LOL) Left out FDR duck but neither ate any. Thurs AM: Commercial raw chicken bites, FDR duck, little bit of kibble. PM: Organ mix and chicken thigh Fri AM: Zoe: Chicken thigh w/ Bone meal & 1/2 neck. Sophie's spay was this morning so just a few FDR duck bites a few hours before spay. PM: Zoe: Chicken thigh w/bone meal. PM Sophie: chicken thigh slivers w/chicken baby food. Sat AM:Sophie: Chicken thigh w/baby food and some bone meal. Zoe AM: gizzard. chicken & turkey thigh w/bone meal. PM Sophie: FDR duck. PM: Zoe: Chicken neck and gizzards SUN AM: BOTH: chicken and turkey thigh w/carnivore raw. PM : organ mix and chopped up chicken wing

They really should eat at least 3 different proteins, I'm afraid if they eat so much chicken they will become stuck on it and not eat anything else. Ferrets are jerks like that LoL. Cornish game hens are a good source of bone. They can eat all of the bones in that little bird. I find mine at walmart, I'd have to check the brand but there is tyson and this other kind, the one I get is free of salt and additives. They can also eat pork rib end bones. Quail is another bird that they can eat all of the bones from.
Try getting some whole ground meat, whole ground rabbit, beef, that usually has organ mixed in and bone. You an also feed some fish, sardines, white fish.. just make sure everything has been frozen first.
With your FDR that you feed as meals, do you add water or feed dry? If shift is having diarrhea you can try to add a little big of egg shell powder or bone meal powder to his soups/FDR just to see if that'll stop the loose stool.

The cornish game hens are produced by prospect farms. I dug one out to check what brand I buy. If you have a walmart they should carry them. Not too bad in price, a little over 2 dollars per.

Thank you for the info! For the FDR, I feed wet. I will go find some cornish hens then! Thanks for the tip! Shifts stool was better this morning but I noticed it was loose again this afternoon, so I will add bone meal into his soups tonight.
Didnt you mention a while back that eating a lot of soft foods can make the ferrets teeth worse (the boys with their soups) just wondering?

Yes, if he is eating a lot of soft foods then I would recommend brushing his teeth a couple of times a week. You could wrap a piece of gauze around your finger and use some oxyfresh pet gel and just rub gently for a few seconds and it'll get the job done.
