Yes, mixing a meat with another that they LOVE is the best way to get them eating something that isn't as favored. Oils work if they are REALLY loved.

kind of looked like wat u got hangin. They would take them around the house---under couch--- bed----they would stay out til jerky -----i would find them by cleaning or by accident I need to rig up something like you got.
today i dipped turkey pieces in almost boiling water and made slivers.
I wished i knew how to replenish flora in gut. This is second time Abbey has been on antibiotics. going to research that.

read the info on salmonella and ecoli----she has fever, rapid heart rate-- i think that comes with a fever---no diarrhea? ? matter of fact, I am going to lock her up to check stool. she had chills yesterday. sheballs up and gets under covers. sometimes when she is breathing her body goes up and down. Also, I think she was heaving this morn. i heard something under bed, and she was standing still--- did not catch in time. no vomit. I had rather her be on beechnut turkey right now. i heard it absorbs quickly in bloodstream and is gentle on tummy I think hubbie is goingto pick her up some after work...I cant believe she ate a little piece of boney meat, today. she refuses hearts---her favorite food! i have put out about, altogether, six slices at differen ttimes and annabelle has eaten them all haha

Poor girl, maybe post a thread in the medical section about the flora and being on antibiotics and see what everyone has to say. Sometimes it is good to get lots of different opinions. I unfortunately... fortunately??.. do not have a lot of experience with sick ferrets, so I always let the senior mentors handle, or help handle these kind of issues. I am learning right along with you on that topic. But this site has so many great minds that all come together, use us!

Sometimes ferrets can be really picky about things like that, if she continues to not want hearts then you can try mixing it with something she IS eating right now and treat it like an introduction, increasing the amount you give her until she's eating it again. Also, sometimes making a soupy out of it sometimes gets them eating it better.
How is she feeling today? Do you think the antibiotics are helping? How are her poops? Still that weird undigested yellow-ness?
Also, how is miss Annabella? We have been so worked up about Abbey! haha

Yes i made a few thigh soupies. She ate chicken drumette piece this morn-----and did not want it. i was glad to see her appetite back. Annabelle is doing great! she had drumette piece too and rab, and she just ate some groun beef----slightly cooked. I'll send pic later. I am hoping to offer her a steak one day soon and her eat it. Abbeys poops are a lot better no yellow they look perfect to me.

Aw, what a good girl! Mine don't really like ground....anything. I think it's a texture thing. Who knows haha
Also, I wanted to ask, why you cook it, even slightly?

I tried it raw once and they refused it. I never tried it again like that---they may have eaten it if i had kept on. but i thought ill warm it up and put a little water in it----the smell is so much richer when heated.
of course i had to hand feed today a little.

Warmed is certainly ok (not microwaved) with a little warm water. Obviously at the beginning we are basically getting them to eat it almost anyway we can short of putting straight sugar on it! But, the goal is to have it raw... Cooking meat will remove the essential nutrients, even a little bit of cooking, and defeats the purpose really. Another thing, which I know you are not doing but word of caution, bones should NEVER be fed cooked. AT ALL, not even boiled. (again with the exception of the 'cooking them to mush' you were doing ) As I am sure you know, cooked bones splinter and can cause issues. That and cooking the meat is a pain! So much easier to just put it in as is (dance)

Put out thigh cubes last night for abbey she refused--- i guess she has graduated from them.
She loves bones--she seems to pick the boniest pieces!
oh yes, I made some pork brain and calf liver instead of chicken liver. Tested it on them---will have to feed that to puppy.
Abbey is eating real well. I thought about quitting the antibiotic ----- i was suppose to give it to her for 5-7 days. hate to strip all good flora.
I am going to check online in Charlotte about getting kefir from someone who wants to share (for myself as well-- and my daughter--shes allergic to gluten).

I would honestly not stop the antibiotics. If it is the same with humans, stopping antibiotics halfway (even if your feeling better) is bad. I am guessing it is the same with animals. I think the kefir would be a good idea. Just to get her poor tummy back to feeling better.
I am glad she is eating bones! That is an excellent step! How is the menu going? We kinda got off with her being sick, poor baby.
