How are her poops on CGH? Good I'm assuming or your would have said :0) and the whiskers I would guess is just a part of aging. Once they loose them they don't grow back as long and lovely.

Here she is while i was having her chase mouse. Had yarn tied around waist of mouse. I would not let her have it and we played tug a war and the pieces that tore off she ate. Yea! abbey looked curiously on but would not try it

Duck hearts r suppose to come in today. where others r putting hearts with 1/4 of ea.organs, i will be using lamb muscle because i will be feeding hearts once a day depending on size of heart.
Still do not know how much girls eat----- 3 oz baggie between them twice a day= wasted food. So they r not eating 3 oz each I will guess about 2 oz.
Do you give about 2 ounces of liver or almost a week?
Annabelle would not eat remaining mouse meat -----evidently i will have to play tug o war until she tears it completely apart, since she eats the pieces she tears off

I agree, it is hard to know exactly how much they are eating. I always bag up 6-8 oz baggies (that's allows for 2-4 oz EACH fert, Ruby is so tiny, she will never eat over 2 oz and Pepe will eat 4 oz some meals, so I take that into consideration too. 6-8 is really just an average) and feed twice a day. Sometimes they finish it off and act like they haven't eaten in days come next meal, sometimes it appears they haven't touched it. I would say if your girls are REGULARLY not finishing off 3 oz meals (a bite or two extra is still recommended, so you know everyone is getting plenty, I am talking larger pieces) then maybe drop that down a bit. Mine also eat better in the morning than they do in the evening, so if I have a larger BI meal and a smaller heart meal to feed for the day, I will feed the BI in the AM and heart in pm. Also, because they eat the heart better than BI, so I give the option that is less liked first. This also allows me to leave the BI in longer if they don't finish it and if the chunks are large enough. Sometimes by morning, the heart AND BI will be mostly gone.
You asked if I give 2 oz liver a week? It is all about %, as you might remember, so lets say mine are eating 3 oz EACH a meal. That is 3x14 (meals)=42 oz x 3 ferts = 126oz a week of meat. SO, APPROXIMATELY 5% should be liver, 5% of 126 = 6oz. So, to answer your question, yes I feed about 2 oz of liver PER FERT a week. The liver is almost always mixed with something, because they get nasty stools if I do a liver only meal. Tried that once. So I usually, to mix it up, do a liver/organ meal a week and then a 1/2 heart with 1/4 organ and 1/4 liver meal. I keep my liver baggies more strictly at 2-3oz so I can do these 1/2 and 1/4 meals.

Now that the trial is over, I think it was pretty clear that chicken is a sensitivity. You might get away with small amounts here and there, but for the most part I would avoid it with miss Anna. I am glad that you are able to find the duck hearts too. Variety is the best way to keep from having other issues, so I would look into adding a beef heart or something else easy to find.
How confident are you feeling about the whole process? Do you think you are ready to take the quiz and submit your final menu for review? Me and the whole forum will be there for any questions or concerns, but I feel as if you know what you need to do and both babies are eating a big enough variety that I feel confident in graduating you. What do you think?

Final Exam:
1. You have run out of heart, how much taurine supplement should each ferret get? (be specific, ie amoiunt andhow often)
2. How can you tell if your ferret is getting toomuch bone? Too little?
3. How many protein sources should your ferrets be eating in a given menu? From what type of meal (ie BI, MM,etc)?
4. What % of the diet should be organ? Heart? Liver?
5. Are gizzards a muscle meat or organ?
6. How often, on average, does a ferret need to eat?
7. Are leaner meats better foryour ferret or fattier meats?
After you post answers I will grade it. At any point you can post your 'final' menu. This doesnt necessarily need to be what you fed this week, but it is meant to make sure you know what a menu should look like. Things happen band you have to make substitutions, but it is important that you know the foundation of it at least. Try to be as specific-ish as possible, ie protein and meal type. You dont have to post one for each fert, but can if you want since your girls have a little different needs. I will then submit your menu along with a pass/fail on your exam to the powers to be to approve! Good luck!!
