This place is the best! Thought I'd share pictures of my other fur babies! This is Star (husky), Gertrude (tiny striped kitten), and Stones (Gray kitten).

I have 3 of my babies, Phinny, Scarlette, and Alphie. I feed kibble but want a more healthy diet for them and have been considering meat, if they'll eat it. I can get the all to eat stage 1 baby food the chicken and broth is all they will eat, then i give them the uncle jims duc soup. My older ferret is getting lean so i wanted to check out this site to see how well others are doing on raw and prey. Well Dead prey. I'm excited to learn from others successes with feeding. thanks Chris.

libertymjs I'm in Utah myself. Unless you're in the outer reaches of the state, there are plenty of places to at least source raw from. The forum will be able to help you get switched, and I'll even happily share where I get my raw for the kids from (that is if you are anywhere near where I get mine from or it won't help any). But when it comes to other ferret help, such as vets.. or general education, yes, sadly I have to agree that Utah seems rather bleh on that some days.

Yes I buy raw for my pup too so that's a easy one but I live down in ogden and when my little guy got really sick I had to drive to logan because no vets were available! 😤

libertymjs Ah, that is a bit out of reach, yeah. Though if you ever need to make a bit of a drive into the city or need better variety of raw (not sure what you have out there), there are two really great Asian stores with very reasonable prices for all kinds of proteins (whole duck also feet and heads loose, whole rabbit, whole jumbo quail, variety of hearts, great selection of organs such as uteri, kidneys, brains, etc.). The one is the SLC Chinatown supermarket and the other is Ocean Mart Inc. over in Sandy.

It's worth the drive if I buy a big supply for them both (: thank you!

Have been a long time reader (like years). Finally have the time to put the effort into the switch! This forum is such a valuable resource and as a newbie here I am so appreciative of the effort this community makes to promote healthy and happy fur babies. I am excited to get started!! THANKS for the add.

We are all a group of ferret and animal lovers who have decided to come together to create a great community. We support one another where and how we can. If you have questions, we(hopefully) have some answers. You will never be ignored here. While we are primarily a raw/whole prey feeding forum, we do try to make all feel welcome here, as we all only want what is best for our fur/feather/scale kids This encompasses all types of feeding, including live. If you choose to start your own feeding colonies, there are members on board who can help guide you in that. If you only wish to feed pre-killed whole prey, raw, commercial raw, or your own premix, someone can help you choose out the best places to order your food from. If you do feel you have to feed kibble, we've also got a link to some of the better ones out there While feeding kibble is discouraged where possible, you will not be made to feel judged, or unwelcome. We simply hope that after reading all the info, you will come to your own conclusions about diet. Never let someone else tell you what to think. Do your research, and make your own decisions. We believe in holistic care where possible, and medical intervention where necessary. There are a number of recipes and tips on the site for a variety of problems, from flea infestations to IBD to supplements. We believe in having fun while talking about ferrets, sharing stories about our ferrets, commiserating about what they've gotten up to, and grieving together when one of us lose one of these little angels. We will be honest with you. No one will sugar coat what being owned by ferrets is like. The same when medical intervention is deemed necessary. While we do try not to be blunt, if this board cannot help with advice any longer, you will be told to get your ferret to a vet asap. Most of all- we are all of one mind in wanting our ferrets to be the best they can be, and live a happy, healthy life. After all, isn't that the goal for all of us? Its a good idea:)
