Name:Sammi Forum name: Nixxie
1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
On this forum
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
Full switch, probably start off with frankenprey but not opposed to whole live on occasion
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet? I know it is best, I only just found a reliable source of a variety of meats today!
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
Yes
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
Nixxie Age approx 1 1/2 years, we aren't exactly sure how old she was when we got her. Female owned by for 1 year 2 months she is very thin but she is also petite I worry about her being underweight especially since she lost a lot when she went missing.
Nax 12 months, male, healthy, owned for 11 months
Gilly 11 weeks today, Female, healthy, owned 2 weeks tomorrow
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc) Do they already eat some form of soup? We currently feed Go fit and free. We are going to make our first batch of soupies later today. They also get a lick or two ferretone a few times a week or more, depending.
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened? no, although we have fed them a mouse once, Nax clean killed, Nixxie sort of ate it.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share? You mean besides how awesome they are? Nixxie is "miss Picky Nixxie" It was a challenge switching her off of the Marshals. I expect to have the most difficult time with her.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer? You mean there is life outside of ferrets and the computer?
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible). Camera batter is recharging, will get pics ASAP
11. Have you met the requirements for this program? Do you have your scale, a place to access meats, hearts, livers, etc? Finally got reliable access today in the next county over, although I have wanted to make the switch for a while. I came to fill this out the moment we got the meat (I am not at all excited about this, I swear) Update:
We have the scale, taurine powder, all sorts of fun meats and access, although I am worried about how hard it was to get heart meat, so I picked up the taurine.
