Here is the overview for this week: September 21st - 27th:
The ratio is 75% slivers/25% soup. I made slivers this afternoon, long and thin like you said. I also added an egg to the mixture. No one ate . Don't know if it was because of the larger slivers (they were quite a bit larger than what they are used to), or if they didn't like the egg mixed with the beef or what. I have a feeling that I am going to have a large amount of uneaten (wasted) meat in the morning. I will try to take a pic so you can see if maybe I made the slivers too large. Hope all is well with you! Annette

Hi Sherry. Today's update (9/22):
Well it seems that no one very happy with the larger slivers; they are licking off the soup and leaving the rest. Here is a pic of the sliver style (this is chicken). There are some small pieces in there but it's mostly larger pieces as well as long and thin. Are these too big? Also, what would make a ferret vomit? BC threw up last night after I posted (a tiny bit). Here is a pic of that:
Is mixing egg with beef a bad combo? No one liked it...altho BC is the only one to spit a bit up. Annette

Also forgot to ask.... As a ferret transitions from soup to solid meat, will they eat less since the solid meat is denser than the soup? A

Okay they are being stubborn holdouts. You may have to take a step back to smaller slivers with a few slightly larger. But first try popping a couple of the larger bits directly into their mouths and see how they do. And that bit of spit up is the egg, nothing to worry about.

Update for Tuesday 9/23: little to no success with tonight. they ate even less beef than they usually do. can meat be bad and we humans can't tell? It smells fine to me but....

Is it a new supply? If so it could be from a different company. And if all three are refusing it is more than likely that is the issue. Mine eat meat that smells slightly "off" to me, but is more than acceptable to them.

wednesday's update (9/24):
Made slivers tonight that were a bit smaller than the pic I showed before. Lily cleaned her plate. Max and P ate slivers IF they were hand fed. BC was not at all interested...tried to pop one in a few times and she ran off and stashed it. /sigh A

BC is definitely a drama queen. Keep doing what you are for two to three days, including with Princess B

Hi Sherry Thursday's (9/25) update: Not as successful tonight. Lily cleaned her plate, but Max and P were not interested in any hand feeding of slivers. AND BC is a drama queen. The few slivers I managed to pop in her mouth she either "gums" them until they fall out of her mouth or she runs and stashes them. I also realized I didn't answer your earlier question about the beef. We bought the beef at the same place (Sam's Club), but it is a different cut of meat. Would that make a difference? Happy Friday early! Annette

Okay. Different approach, stubborn brats Keep it up with Lily, and start increasing sliver size. With the other three get some ground meat, what ever kind you can get. Use that as the muscle meat period. Forget the slivers for them for now. They need to get used to more texture again. Puree the heart/liver/organ and mix it in according to correct ratio. We can work slivers in again once they get used to that.

And the overview for this week: Sept 28th - Oct 4th: I just saw your note about getting ground meat, so this does not reflect that. I can get ground meat tomorrow. Annette

And finally, the update for today, Sunday (9/28): In some ways, everyone is doing better. Lily cleans her plate like a champ. Max eats most of the slivers on his own now. BC will eat the small slivers on her own and will eat some of the larger ones if hand fed. Miss P is the same as BC, with a little less gusto. Here is a pic of tonight's dinner: And of Miss P chewing:
It's funny, for those few minutes when all are eating...you can hear tiny chewing noises. So, there is chewing going on. But do they all belly up to the plate on their own and eat everything on their own...no. Anyways, will check in tomorrow. A
