I recently asked my vet to order in the usual 2-pack of DES implants, and the vet was told by their Virbac rep that 1) they were on "backorder" and then 2) the latest shipment is held up in Hawaii due to the hurricane and they're uncertain when it will actually arrive in the States. I don't know if this means anyone else will see delays, but I am! Anyone heard anything more about the implants starting to be manufactured in North America?
As usual, I pre-paid for the 2-pack -- total of $333.

Hopefully it won't take long for them to be shipped. It's been a while since HI got hit by a big storm, but it could have been worse. My vet gets $400 for a two pack. With tax it's $212 each.

So has anyone heard any more news on when DES will be available again?

Copied this from the VirbacUSA site:
"Suprelorin® F (deslorelin acetate) Implant is currently out of stock. The next shipment is scheduled to arrive mid to late December. All customers will be notified via Email upon arrival. We apologize for this delay and appreciate your interest and support of Suprelorin F."
This is a month later than previously announced. Customers means vets.

I hope they get them in soon
My 5 are not due until mid February. Hopefully they have them in stock by them.

So it's now late Dec. It's nothing like creating a market and then not meeting demand. This is a great free market system to drive up price. I will likely loose Boris because of this (he doesn't respond to the lupron) ciao

The longer this backorder/non-availability drags on, I am starting to realize just how lucky I was that I was able to get Rolo implanted as quickly & easily as is he was.

This is my clinic's website: www.drmunn.ca/Greenwood_Park_Animal_Hospital/HOME.htmlRolo was implanted the beginning of November (4th), they may still have some implants in stock. It's worth calling if your clinic is out of them.
