Haggis, Neeps & Tatties are getting on like a house on fire all are eating well & cause of their ages (5mths & 5.5mths) they aren't the gannets that they were not feeding all 3 really any more than than I did when I just had Haggis & Neeps as wee kits will be weighing them tomorrow so can see if Tatties has filled out a bit since he came he munches plenty of food

@ninjagoth If Tatties is going to be a chewer, and it sounds like he might be, you could try using Denim for bedding. Remove all fleece and replace it with Denim. If you can sew, you can make sleepers and hammocks for them. Denim is almost ferret proof and alot of our ferrents use it with their little chewers. katt has the biggest chew monster of all time.

Are they eating whole bones yet? Getting plenty of bone should help with the chewing, and most ferrets grow out of it as they age too. Hopefully that's the case for your boy. Definitely monitor his playtime closely and remove access to any and EVERYthing that he can chew.

Hi folks - thanks for the tips. I have no material in their hutch at all at the moment just to be safe. They are sleeping quite happily in the soft dust extracted hay and they are enjoying the usual digging in the litter boxes when topped up lol. Even the hammock is gone. Yes they devour chicken wings & thighs including bones and pork rib bones they eat them better since Tatties came - he was brought up in working breeders place on whole prey. They have a hard plastic bone to chew, a dog antler chew and get fed twice day and with their stashing habits there is normally a bit of food left over at their next meal so they are not hungry. I think it may be that Tatties never had any material in his hutch to get used to when he was younger where as Haggis & Neeps were with me from 9 wks and had fleeces in with them from day one.

Also when they are out to play they get only ferret safe things and I am playing with them when they get cat dangle toys or chase the tea towel games so they are well supervised. And they can chew on each other too May try introducing denim in the future

Try denim and as they get older (and hopefully grow out of the chewy stage) try gradually re-introducing other bedding. Start with say a fleece blanket in the room during playtime, then in tr cage when you can watch them, etc.

Weighed Tatties today - he just fits the scales and no more when I first got him he was tiny. The week i got him he was 765g today he weighed around 960g - a big increase since sept 13th I don't know if he matures slower cause from working stock or if being with more laid back cage mates he it getting more food. He seems more settled of late and less food obsessed slightly so that's good

That's a nice healthy weight gain. Good boy, Tats.
He sounds like a happy baby. What kind of personality is he? Is he Vocal? Does he snuggle or give kisses?

Yeah his new thing is sitting on Haggis and biting his ears & scruffing him lol - I think he is getting Haggis back for doing that to him the first few days. Not snuggly or kissy. At the belated nip training stage - he was only handled a bit by the breeder. He is quiet & sneaky and fast. He stashed half the food before the other two get to the bowl. He dooked a bit the first day to say hi to the others but other than contented quiet hissy sounds which they all make while eating he is quiet. He is a good leaper & loves the tea towel game. He seems to keep at hunting type games & has a longer attention span. I think this is traits from his working line background. He seems more intense when playing etc. As if he knows he may need it to learn something from. Its subtle things in his behaviour but you see it compared to Haggis & Neeps. I love that they are all different characters I think at the mo Tatties feels confident he will be the boss. I think the dynamic of having the 3 ferrets instead of two is better for them. They have an extra playmate so if one does not want to play there is another who probably does Haggis loves shoulder riding or being picked up and patted - just for a few mins at a time. Neeps is pretty laid bac_ with people and sits and yawns & chills and enjoys his pats - he is the big sukey one And Tatties is the wiggler who loves to play & climb & nip. He is softer at nipping now than he was a week ago. Mainly play nips but forgets when he should stop when you pick hip up at the end of the play session. He will mouth gently mostly and play stops when he nips a bit too hard. Big improvement from day one still a ways to go though.

They all sound Wonderful. So, baby Tatties plans on being boss. From your description of him, that doesn't surprise me.
Haggis sounds like a Politician. Allow a few pats and pickups and then move on. Neeps has the perfect name for a laid back chill fert. What does "Sukey" mean?
I agree with you, I love how each ferret has its own very distinct personality. I also liked the dynamic of having three ferrets. Ferret Math decided that my three needed one more and so Three plus one ended up equaling Five. Hmmm.... six is such an even number.

Lol - ferret maths always ready to strike the unsuspecting ferrent Sukey (sorry spelt wrong sooky)- as in 'a big sook' or a big cuddly softie dunno if its a Scot's thing, or a British thing or a thing my family used
