Today Kits get AM pork mince PM 1x bone in pork rib (approx 20cm) each Got a good lot of meat for them this month between the butchers & supermarket heheh Pork liver, beef steak, pork ribs, pork chops on bone. Butcher gave me a big tray of chick thighs that will be out of date today (free chicken) I'll portion & freeze and they will be fine for my wee fuzzies Already got left in freezer tonnes of beef heart & kidneys, some beef mince, lamb liver, chick drummers & wings. Will get odds and ends when I see or need bits. Got a large plastic tub to put all the ferret meat as I was over running the drawer in the freezer lol Kibble all gone - neighbours cat got it last night. Buying no more

Found a commercial raw frozen pet food supplier 15 miles away. I can get all sorts there including British ex layer quail whole prey for 0.75p per bird. I can also get seasonal game and grinds with bone and organs it - might try out a few next month. Would cost me a bit for shipping but I can also collect the stuff on weekdays so have days off work at end of month so you can gather where I will be particularly excited about the rabbit heads and ears they sell

Took the kits the twenty minute walk to the reptile pet shop to get them a day old chich each - most of it they were on my shoulders or in my arms watching and sniffing all wide eyed they have never been that far with me before. Every one was like aw ferrets so cute or got asked the usual 'do they bite?' A couple of girls wanted to pat them so I turned them round so their backs could be stroked. The kits were loving the attention but I still take the precaution of keeping teeth end away from strangers - Just in case - but they were fine They got all excited at the pet shop wanting to run everywhere on the ends of their leads I could hear them sniffing so loudly even the shop owner laughed at their snuffles its only a wee shop so they only got just inside the door to the counter but they did not want to leave lol. Picked them up and then they realised that I had a pocket that smelled of chick - they spent the way home trying to steal frozen chicks from a zipped op pocket while being carried they were so funny - if I was an octopus I woulo have filmed it too.

Kits had the following food today AM - Lge chunks Beef Heart PM - 1 x bone in Chick Drum each Very lively got them all hyper weasel dancing and leaping and spinning generally being silly, even got them dooking a bit an they are pretty quiet ferrets most of the time lol all it took was tickling them then played with their towel leaping ang riding it which they love. Then I brought out their new cat teaser toy £1 it cost me its a felt monkey with a bell on a strong stretchy cord attached to a wooden rod - they loved it. They were dancing, leaping, dooking and catching it. It was so lovely to see them so happy & hyper. After I went a walk with them they were the best they have been on a walk. Think they are starting to know the way on the way home Haggis led the way at a run and went straight to the door lol even Neeps struggled to keep up - he wanted to sniff and potter his way home but Haggis was straining on the end of the lead all the way home Got them home harnesses off and straight in to the nice clean hutch they ran to their bed area and looked out as if they were happy but worn out.

Hi Sherry The boys will literally eat anything I give them as long as it is raw. They will eat large chunks of heart, kidney or liver whether it is lamb, chicken or beef. They will eat beef mince, turkey mince or lamb mince happily with or without eggshell powder. They will love mackerel fillet, pork belly chunks, weekly eggs in the shell & their weekly treat of day old chick goes very quick down the hatch. They mainly get chicken for bone in meat, wings and drummers most times they crunch the bones too. & they get thighs as well for a change - have to break those bones bit. They will eat large chunks of chicken, lamb, beef, turkey, venison. Going to a frozen raw pet food supplier at the end of the month to look at getting some British frozen ex layer quail (whole prey) and some rabbit heads and ears and some other goodies - cost of fuel will be less than shipping My house has no kibble at all for I think just about 2 weeks now they weren't really eating it in the end they just dug around in it The boy are growing well and my boyf reckons they are much heavier than a few days ago when he last saw them. They have lovely thick coats that are soft. They haven't slowed their eating much I think they are bulking out for winter we're going into Autumn here and living outside the are getting ready Their poops are pretty consistent with what they have eaten and much smaller than kibble poop. Nice healthy raw poops day old chick poops are funny - they eat the whole chick - nothing is wasted I also tried them with lamb neck fillets which they loved. Over all nice healthy kits growing so fast - they will be 18 or 19 weeks this Saturday - need to check my calander So over all really happy with my mad kits - the both have beautiful natures, have never nipped hard and were easily nipp trained - litter training has gone well over all - found using a different cleaner in their hutch to their litter trays has help the most that and clamping the trays to the bars of the hutch with big peg like diy clamps easy for me to remove for cleaning but ferrets cannot undo them Now just researching whether to castrate them when they are 7 months, or do the implant for a couple of years then castrate - had decided on straight castration - but the more I research the more I cannot decide. Gonna look at any papers and studies I can find and go from there b4 making decision- have a few months anyways Hope all is well with your fuzzies - hugs to them all

I am so happy that you are taking them for walks and giving them so much playtime. I'm tagging Heather, she should be able to advise you on castration and options. I love that Haggis ran straight for the door. Anytime we take Roamy out for a walk, we have to go to the door at least three times and open it. Once he sees it will open, then he's ready to head off for the rest of his walk.

I am convinced ferrets get us to do things for them so they can laugh at us they way we do them they have us wrapped around their little furry paws. Hehehe
