Welcome back. It sounds like you had a lovely time. Are you all destressed and relaxed. I'm so happy that Sevvy got to go with you and had fun on the beach.
Hip Hip Hooray. Good for Sevvy and Congrats to you. We have just moved forward. Next meal, take a knife or cleaver or meat tenderizer mallet and chop first. Cut the pieces into smaller pieces and then put them in the food processor. I don't think you will have to do that for too long. Severus did great! (dance)
We're doing fine here. Tennessee is just getting normal summer rain. We are sliding into the humid season though. Nothing like Texas is going through.
My good news is that our house is not separated. Keller is doing fine and while she is not playing with anyone but Mika, Roamy and Juliet are not terrorizing her.
Once in awhile, I hear her warning squeal but no one is jumping her. Roamy wants to play and then she gets upset and screams at him. I go looking for him and he comes to me with a guilty look. He's really a sweetheart and Keller is so precious.
I can't wait to hear how Sevvy's next meal goes. (dance)

Apparently this whole semi-big post I wrote in reply to your previous post never posted. Oh well. Right now we're just taking it one meal at a time. He has his good days and his extremely picky days which is beyond frustrating, but you know how ferts are. I bought him some new little ferret chews to try and help with his teeth, but he wants nothing to do with them, cause he hates treats. Little butt. It's good that you guys aren't getting flooded, one of my friends in texas told me about how he went to work and lightning struck the ground across the street from his store a couple of times. Scary. I'm glad you guys aren't separated anymore, but it sucks that Roamy gets in trouble with Keller for trying to play.

Keller really doesn't want to play with anyone but Mika. I'm hoping that will change with time. I don't know why she is so afraid of the others. Roamy and Juliet gave her a hard time at first but now he really looks like he wants to get to know her. They'll work it out eventually. Fingers crossed.
Since he won't eat the ferret chews
What is on his menu plan now? Have you tried doing a grind in your food processor?

Right now I'm just trying to finish off the stuff in the freezer. Then I'm going to be buying split chicken breasts and wings and tossing them in the grinder and try and get him to start eating bone. I don't know why he won't eat any form of treats what so ever. I'm guessing his previous ferrents never gave him treats, and then by the time I got him it was already ingrained that no treats. I tried rubbing them with ferrtone (out of fish oil, d'oh!) and he just licks them, tried multiple different types of treats (like dried chicken, duck rolls, salmon rolls, dried lamb, etc.) and he refuses to eat them! He only wants ice cream or cereal bowl milk, which I will not allow. I wish he would just try them before deciding he doesn't want them. LE SIGH

The Ferret Mind is certainly complicated. I don't know why they are programmed to avoid good foods and then turn around and eat foam and rubber.
My Wynstan goes insane around ice cream, Juliet wants bread and Roamy begs for lettuce. I end up hiding in a corner to eat that kind of stuff.
What is in your freezer now?

Not much now. We got enough to make it to thursday when I go shopping. We got a little bit of pork, two patties of beef (pureed meat always turns to little patties), and two chunks of chicken. Plus organs. So yeah, just enough to get to thursday. I bought turkey wings today cause they were two bucks when I went to grab some more cheese from the store (there was a sale and we needed more cheeeeeeeeese. Yum, cheese.), but I always pass the meat area out of habit and saw the wings. I will be breaking those and grinding them up tomorrow. Ugh, not looking forward to it. But it will be the first time he's had turkey in a while. They've been only selling legs for a while and I'm not sure I could even break them, without damaging something. Today was a laid back day for us though. Played with Sev a whole lot. Chased him about, played with him with his kitty toy, tossed him on the blankie pile (I take all the blankets we own, as well as all the pillows and make a super plush mountain with them and toss him on it gently, he goes gaga over it.), and play fought him. His belly is super ticklish. He's all tuckered out now and sleeping on my toes as I write this.

Cheese, yummmy. It's hard to find good cheese here in the States. You can find Vermont cheddar and Wisconsin cheese, but nothing like you guys get or over in Europe.
Turkey wings can be tough. Pound them with a hammer or cleaver first, whichever you have. It can get messy, so you might want to put some parchment paper or saran wrap over it. Once they're pounded nicely, stick it in the food processor with some warm water, about 1/4 cup. Then grind the heck out of it. Look thru it for those odd size pieces that survive the processor and might be little enough to choke him.
It sounds you and Sevvy had alot of fun. Playing with them is so much fun and such a stress reliever.
How's your rash coming along. Hopefully, it's gone. Something popped into my head (it does that once in awhile, there is plenty of room, lol). I had a rash for awhile on my chin. I figured out that I was resting my head on a small pillow at night. That pillow was filled with feathers. I think they were goose down. Once I stopped using that pillow, my rash went away. Any chance that your pillows have feathers in them?

Computer problems ahoy! My pc finally died (processor) and so I've been without for the last week. BUT! WE GOT ME A NEW ONE! Well not new new... It's used, but it fits my pc and it works so that's all that matters. My poor frankencomputer... Everything in it except the hard drive and case are hand me downs. I would love to get a new pc, but that would cost well over 600 bucks. And that's with keeping my hard drive. Oh well. Some day I will be able to afford my 2000 dollar dream machine. <3 Anyway I have been doing bone in meals, but my food processor is not all that great. It's getting to the point where I might have to look or one of the heavy duty ones. But he has been eating bones in teeeny bits. Not as much as he needs to be, but he's getting there. And at his weigh-in three days ago, he was a whopping three pounds! He's chunky. I think his ideal weight for his size is 2 lbs 9-11 oz I think the 10 oz mark is the best, but he looks fine still whether he's 9 or 11 oz. I got a video of him chasing his cat toy and climbing up on his cat scratcher. It's super cute. Btw I love your new profile pic.

I think your preowned computer is going to be very useful. I haven't changed my profile picture. That's great news about Sevvy. We can't expect him to chomp down on big bones right away, he's doing good. He's at a nice healthy weight and that's his summer weight. I wonder what he will be during the winter. I love the big boys. My Wynstan is a big boy and he's just so goofy and handsome. Did you post the video? I'd love to see him playing. (dance)

New to me, it's been awhile since I actually noticed it. Last I remember it was a close up of a ferret and you (I assume). Or maybe I'm just crazy and my brain is just tossing in stuff to make me sound dumb, lol. Who knows. Last day and a half Sev's had an upset tummy. Organ meals really hit him hard. Gives him the runs real bad. It's back on track tonight, but only cause I held off on the organ heart mix. Tomorrow when I make it for him I might add a bit extra bone meal. Just to help his tummy tum. Heart days on the other hand are completely fine. Makes it easier on me. I got him eating eggs now with no fuss, just mix them with a bit of pork puree and he's a happy fert. Honestly those are his favorite meals. He wolfs them down so fast I wonder if he's still hungry and make him another bowl. Which he ignores. Cause he's rude like that. He was actually skinnier over the winter. Weigh anywhere from 2lbs 7oz to 2lbs 11 oz :/ I think it was super cold in here most of the winter and he had to burn more energy to keep warm which was why he was always hungry. I honestly spent most of the winter being warm or hot, but I think that was a product of my psoriasis, and not because it wasn't cold. As soon as I find the transfer cord I will upload the picture. I also need to get a video of him using his climbing hammocks to reach the higher levels of his cage, cause that's pretty cute too. I went that route though cause I wanted to promote his overall body strength. When he first got here he was pretty weak and not able to do much. Now he climbs on all sorts of stuff. It's pretty nice knowing he can get up on the bed or my couch if he wants to. As for my rash (since I forgot to update about it in my last post) comes and goes. It is definitely psoriasis, unfortunately. I have to keep my face well moisturized and slathered with vaseline, which I hate, but it's either that on my psoriasis starts to irritate my skin, which causes plaques... It's just not fun. But I manage to keep it under control with vaseline and betaderm (which is just as greasy. Yay) On the rest of me it's just inverse psoriasis, my face is just special and gets plaques. Btw, Sev's tail is just straight up nasty and really needs a good deep clean. Any special soap or tools I should use? I would say it's akin to a dirty rat's tail (just with hair.) and while I know how to clean a rat's tail (dawn dish soap, warm water, a tooth brush and infinite patience) I'm not sure if the same would work for him.

Also can you recommend a duk soup recipe? It's for a friend who has a ferret on abs and is being a picky little butt about eating her meals. I wanted to suggest something but I couldn't remember any recipes.

Hello Last day and a half Sev's had an upset tummy. Organ meals really hit him hard.
Poor Severus. What organs are they and are they always the same? Maybe he has a sensitivity to them. Add some bonemeal powder to the organs, about 1/3 tsp. That will help firm up his stools. Try switching to another protein for his organs and see if that helps. Also, if you could post a menu for me, I can see what he is eating protein wise. He was actually skinnier over the winter. Weigh anywhere from 2lbs 7oz to 2lbs 11 oz :/
It sounds like he has his seasons reversed. That's not uncommon, my Juliet does. It may rereverse or stay the same. Let's see what happens next Winter. Btw, Sev's tail is just straight up nasty and really needs a good deep clean. Any special soap or tools I should use
I found this link on Rat Tail. I haven't dealt with it, but this link has a good discussion. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/134/rat-tail-blackheadsAlso can you recommend a duk soup recipe? The balanced soupie recipe is: 8oz of chicken thigh. Keep some skin on. Fat equals energy 1-2 chicken hearts 1/2 chicken liver 1/3 tsp of dried eggshell powder or bone meal powder. Blend this all up. If your friend's little guy is sick or needs to put weight on, Carnivore Care can help. It's available online. I was hoping your rash would get better. PS (don't make me spell it out) isn't any fun. Give Sevvy a big hug from me, and when you get a chance, post his menu please. :wave3:

Sorry, it's not like the actual thing that ferrets get, I was more comparing it to when a rat doesn't clean their tail scales (which fyi, most don't they're a lazy bunch.) and it gets dirty with oil, dirt, and pee residue. He's just really oily from the winter, and when I tried giving him a bath last time (he gets maybe two real baths in a year.) it didn't do a darn thing to the oil build up. I guess cause I was just using a tiny bit of pet soap to suds him up. I'll try getting some dawn dish soap. Right now his proteins are beef, pork, chicken, and turkey when I can find it reasonably priced. I might try to intro lamb again since it keeps going on sale.... I dunno. His organs though are chicken hearts, beef kidneys, and pork liver. So he gets an awesome blend of his three main proteins. Oh and I found out why he was having an upset tummy for a day and a half. I'm so dumb I didn't clue into this before, but he had eggs the day after his evening kidney and liver mix on thursday. Friday I gave him half an egg mixed with pork puree for breakfast and then again at dinner (with a small chicken lunch in between.) Herr derr silly me that boy always has the runs after an egg meal. But he only gets a weekly egg to prevent hairballs SINCE HE REFUSES TO STOP GROOMING HIS BUTT AND BELLY! With his haunches being his absolute hairiest. Lol. He's a loon. By the way, I wanted to know what it might entail to introduce Sev to another ferret. >_> We aren't yet in a position to get one, but I would like to start looking into it, since I'm already looking into ferrets. It would either be another loner or a duo, or possibly even a trio. I know that usually introing a loner into an established group can be mixed results, but I'm curious as to what I should look into, or maybe invest in. We already have the 4'hx4'lx3.5'w cage, which I could 'easily' extend another foot in length if I were to get another group. And mainly the cage is for bed time only since I can't make sure he doesn't have an accident on the floor if I'm passed out.
