Sound a bit like BS to me... Wouldn't every ferret have one? Anyway, I think it could be a practice tat, that way they have experience when they do the ears. Figure no one will notice

None of my marshals babies have ever had the toe tat. Feeling a bit deprived here ;D ;D I don't think marshals ever answered back as to why some fuzzes have toe tats. I wonder if it's little fuzzes who are going to a specific holding station? It's only supposition, no one really knows for sure that I know of ciao

I have two Marshalls, both from the same PetCo, not sure if they are littermates but were cagemates in the store. The male has no tattoos that I've been able to see/find (definitely none in the ear, feet is hard to tell), the female has both the dots in the ear AND the foot.

I've had a few Marshall's babies with foot tats. I always thought it was a botched job, like the ferret put up their paw to stop the person and got a mark on their paw. But why would they tatt while awake... ?? Stupid guess I suppose.
Oh and by the way, I came into this thread fully expecting people to be showing off their tattoos of ferrets and ferret related things.

Haha, I guess I could have clearified. I was hoping people to post their ferret's tattoos. I'm curious what the RC tattoo looks like.

I think the pictures of koda's RC tattoo are on my old computer. I'll find it when I get home, or sometime this weekend depending on how long it takes me to clean all of the protest poops out of their cage tonight.

An RC tat is sometimes hard to find as it's often in the fold of the ear. I will check Yuri, I think he's got a very prominent tat in the ear. I know that Minion is an RC but his tat is right in the fold. You could see it better when he was younger (before the fur grew around the back of the ear) because it was actually easier to see it through the back than the front. The ear fold is right in the way. I've never known a Marshals ferret to be without some form of tatoo. I've seen a lot of marshals, heard about even more, some have tats that are harder to see than others. Boris is a marshals and you have to really look because it's much deeper in the ear than I'm used to looking for but it's there. I originally thought that he might be from another farm but he's very distinctively a marshals ferret (structured) so I kept looking until I did find it. Lady Natasha's tat is very visible. Lady "B" is an RC and her tat didn't become visible until she became ill (I've had that a number of times with the RC ferrets). Mayhem, Mad Max were (I'm guessing as there were no tats) PV or Path Valleys. One thing to remember, even though kits come into a place together the chances of them being from the same litter are unfortunately slim. Basically, when they're shipped to holding areas there is an area of cages reserved for the "marshals" shipment. Kits are then put in cages a given number (say 10 or 20) a company then buys "x" number of kits. Say 10....these are then randomly picked out of the box and then shipped to that company. That company then randomly chooses to send 2 kits to this store, 4 kits to this store and the remainder to another store. This process may actually have a few more levels to it but this is the simplified method So as you can see actually getting a sibling is next to impossible...it can happen but it's very unlikely. Once the kits are removed from their mothers and altered, tatooed then they're placed in large holding pens. So from that moment they're no longer considered part of "a" litter or "b" litter. If they were actually tatooed with numbers, or paw printed (each paw print is like a finger print) then you could possibly figure this out. You must understand Marshals doesn't care...they're just a number they're not an individual...just a group of kits to be sold . It's all about money ciao

Thanks for the info Heather,
I think I meant more like they we're from the same "group" not necessarily siblings.
I think I found two soft colored dots on Jude last night, they are so light that I've thought I seen one (many times) and then on second look couldn't see it. Last night I snuggled him and I think I saw it again and a second dot close to his head.

All of mine have ear tats but only Boogie has a toe tat (same place as Zoey.) My little niece's ferret also has tattoos in both places. They're all Marshall's ferrets.

;D I was reading this hoping to see tattoos too!
I have several ferrets with no tattoos at all, and the rest are Marshall's with the 2 ear tatts. The only Marshall's I've seen that also had a toe tatt in addition to the ears were the white/blaze ferrets that were deaf, and it was between the toes on top and not on the foot pad. I did have one girl (who has since gone to the bridge) that had one big blue dot in the ear.
Hope to see pics soon.
