This leads to the thought that adrenal is often so hard to diagnose because it is about hormones and so an adrenal ferret, thinking it has to breed hides it's illness even more than it may at other times

Yep, it's really hard to pick up on it when they are ill sometimes. I think this is one of the benefits of raw. With a raw diet, you are much more involved with the everyday health of your ferrets so are much more likely to notice changes in behaviour, unwillingness to eat, etc.

That certainly helps but I also think it has a bit to do with the type of relationship you have with your pets. You know the saying..get like the animals you live with...that used really worry me because all my animals were crazy (and that's even before I found ferrets), but then I realised my animals weren't any crazier, it's just I notice their quirks and others often don't because they aren't as involved with their pets. I think everyone here notices though, that's how we get such great stories about the funny things ferrets do.
