I will look into the omas. That's not a brand i have heard of. I have a lovely migraine tonight so will do some research tomorrow. It sounds like it would be fine. Could u write your menu as : Monday am- Monday pm- Tuesday am-... etc. Heather oks the menu and i feel that format is easiest. But if you might add another variety we can wait until you know what u are feeding for sure. How about lamb? I would like to make sure they get some red meat in their diet. Our if they will eat beef pieces add those to a few meals (or both)

It's oma'spride .com, the brand is called"purr"
I think they are eating the rad cat turkey more consistently now, and I have gotten Annie to eat the rad cat lamb once or twice. Still no go with the beef but if I put enough salmon oil or baby food in it ti bet they will eat it after a while .
Here's the menu as it stands now: Mon am NV duck Mon pm Nv duck Tues am NV rabbit Tues pm NV rabbit Wed am NV chicken Wed pm NV chicken Thurs am egg Thurs pm rad cat chicken or turkey, lamb (maybe) Fri am NV duck Fri pm NV duck Sat am NV rabbit Sat pm NV rabbit Sun am NV chicken Sun pm NVchicken This I expect will change as I find new meats. At this point all NV are cat. They are both eating close to 1.25 oz at a time. Sun pm NV chicken Thurs am egg Thurs pm rad cat turkey,or chicken

Annie ate the NV beef(dog), Sophie walked through it. Sophie makes a lot of noises these days- little squeaks and squeals. I notice it most often when I hold her, which makes sense as I can hear her better. But she also makes noises sometimes when she poops, and I've noticed she can't always make it to the litter box. Her poop itself still looks OK, not loose, bloody or mucousy but I am beginning to wonder if she is developing some GI upset. It's not associated with any specific food. So, 2 questions: 1-have any of yours ever been vocal? 2-She won't touch the reishi; I've tried diluting it or mixing it with baby food, but she won't eat it. She gets probiotics several times a week; is there anything else you would suggest I give her?

Hi Mel. Sorry i was away yesterday and today got unexpected company. So Sophie is vocal when going to the bathroom and sometimes it seems urgent? But no diarrhea? I have not had that. A couple of mine are vocal but it's more when playing. Bear grumbles when it's time to get his des implant. But that's it. Im wondering about stomach upset but i don't know why if it's not a particular food. How much probiotics are u giving at a time? I'm a little leary personally about giving them long term. Once their gut is balanced i say discontinue and use again if needed (like after antibiotics) reshi is also a pulse therapy thing. So not all the time. I would say go off probiotics and wait a few days. If she continues take her and a poop sample in. Is she prolapsed at all after pooping?

No she's not prolapsed. Thought I was to give probiotics regularly. I saw a post on Facebook today about making your own minces- they are using bone meal instead of eggshell. Is bonemeal better? From the way I read the post, this is all the person is feeding their ferrets- theirs won't eat pieces or bone either. It's attractive to me because I could add more variety to their diets.

Hi Mel. Your question has me a bit unsure of long term use. I am confirming with the senior mentors for you to make sure we make the best decisions for your girlies

Good evening. I have some answers for you. I didn't feel that bone meal was a supplement for long term and I confirmed that it is missing some macronutrients of actual bone. Now that being said if you were wanting to make some of the homemade grinds you could try grinding your own bones and adding it to a meat you are wanting to use. But a com raw is still more balanced.
But remember with a com raw diet you will need to keep up on the dental hygiene. Their teeth are not being cleaned on com raw like they would be crunching through bones.

As for probiotics - I was doing more looking into it when you mentioned Sophie's poop. Some people do use them long term but when I continued reading on it there is some debate as to whether to continue on them once their gut bacteria is back in line. EX after antibiotics some people may use them to help replenish the good bacteria that were killed off. But once they are on a normal routine there is some uncertainty whether it is necessary to continue. I would not hurt to try taking her off for a while. How is she doing now?

No change as far as her pooping or noises. I have stopped the probiotics. When I first started making soupie I ground up the whole chicken thigh, bone and all. I could do that again. Other wise things are the same.

You can definitely do that to add variety. You can even use chicken bone with a meat of your choice. Then add organs and heart to balance it out. Are you wanting to do that to add to your menu? Do is she still having urgent potty times? Accidents?

I may do that in the future. For right now I'm just staying with the NV. Sophie does show some urgency some time. And she does have accidents sometimes. Could it be her age? They are both not eating as much.

hmm, I'm not convinced it is her age. But by accidents is she just being stubborn and not using her litter boxes etc? Mika was usually my culprit, she would use her puppy pads and litter boxes often but if she had to go and one wasn't nearby she would just go where she felt. A decrease in food is not unusual once they are fully on it. Are they maintaining weight? Please make sure you are cleaning their teeth on the com raw diet. It is good habit to brush them at least 1x a week. If you are content using NV can you please write up a final draft of your menu? Once you do this I will check it over, and post you your final exam.

There seems to be an urgency sometimes. It doesn't happen a lot tho.
I am doing their teeth, using eggshell and olive oil, then putting oral cleansing gel on them. I have some enzymatic toothpaste I use on the cat, I tried this but am afraid to give them too much. Sophie also showed some loose stool after I used it on her. Annie had no problem with it.
I am starting to get concerned about Annie's weight tho- there was a time she weighed 2 lbs, she now weighs 1 lb 11 oz. Last month she was 2 oz heavier, but still... Since I didn't really keep tabs on their weights before they started eating raw, I don't know how much is normal for them to lose in the Spring. Sophie hasn't lost any weight. Annie is also starting to lick at her right front paw when she is eating, so much that she forgets about eating. She eats a little, then licks for a while sometimes she goes back to the dish, sometimes she walks away. I will post the diet in a few days, I am on call this weekend and have to go in to work now

So in terms of the weight loss I am unsure if that is a "normal" amount for her. Mine can fluctuate a lot. My one boy hits a bit over 3lbs in the winter and is just a little over 2 otherwise. My smallest goes down a good few ounces in spring. It is hard to know what is normal if you hadn't tracked their weight before. Does her paw have any visible signs of a sore/ hurt nail etc?
