Hello all. Have to post pics of this weekend's project. We (mostly the hubby ) made a littler box that spans the width of our ferret nation cage. We are hoping this thing is big enough that Max can't miss it even if he tries

That looks really good, I don't think that would work for my big guys though. My ferrets for some reason want to have all four feet in the litter. I would love that space saving litter box if mine would use it properly. I really hope it works for you because that looked like a lot of work.
I put a corner litter box in the top level of my cage, and they would not use it since they could on get all four feet in. Sometimes they get all the way in. Once I saw Bleu do it I knew why he did not like. He barely fit. His nose was in one corner and his but was in the other. That left no room for backing up (which for some reason they have to do) I guess it depends how big your ferret is
Let us know how it works for you, I am really interested to know if that works.

That does looks interesting. How wide is the bottom? Like msav said, mine like to be able to get into it. I always love how nice and new these things look and then give it a week and not so much! That's part of the reason I like my tub that is completely covered and hides the mess...

Hello all Max hasn't missed yet...so far so good. Lets see...the dimensions (approximate): 36 inches wide (a bit less to fit in the cage) and 10 inches deep. The back and side panels are 6 inches high while the front lip is 2 inches high. So basically it take up almost half of the bottom floor of the FN cage. Overkill perhaps but since Max seems to go wherever his fanny lands, I am hoping it lands in there most of the time LOL. I was also looking ahead to when more ferts are added to the family Annette

There are Sterilite tubs that perfectly fit ferret nation cages.

What was this made out of? I've been trying to figure out how to make something almost identical, but all I could think of was a storage tub which I would still have to cut.
