Hey sorry Im finally home now yay! She ate a lot more this morning so I'm hoping she will tonight too. She was also really squirrelly (is that a word? I think it is) when we got home and she played in her new dryer vent tunnel and with her balls that I bought a little while back. She was in the cage more this weekend than usual though so maybe that had something to do with it.

I'm finally home, too. Evanna ate some more today, great! Maybe, she is learning that food tastes good now. She must be awfully cute, when she is playing. Did Evanna go with you, or did she stay at home? Your Grandmother seems to be fond of her, does she play with her also?
We went to the Asian Market today, unfortunately no Pizzle. Tee Hee, see Kraesmom's Post. I was buying some Quail, and the older Asian Lady was trying to tell me, how to cook it. I explained that it was for my ferrets and she looked confused. So, I asked for her recipe and listened politely. Then we went to Target and I bought a plastic kiddy swimming pool for the little guys. Tomorrow, everyone is going swimming.
I'll check in tomorrow morning.

I think maybe she had to go a little hungry before she accepted this new food she ate a decent amount independently for dinner yay! My grandma is fond of her she doesnt play but she LOVES to watch Evanna run around and play. She came with me she goes everywhere I go hehe and she met her first german shepherd. It was so cute! Abby (dog) just really wanted to play and she even brought her stuffed toy over so Evanna could play too. I wouldnt let Evanna out of the cage, but they got to sniff noses through the bars. Oooh I think I'm going to buy some rice for a dig box... do you have any tips for keeping her less yellow?

That's great that she gets to go with you. Great way for bonding and great stimulation for Evanna. Abby was so cute, trying to share her toy. I'm kind of afraid of big dogs, I would have kept Evanna in the cage also.
It seems like kibble is responsible for the yellow. Both Juliet and Wynstan had alot of yellow on them, but once they detoxed off the kibble and were eating raw, the yellow went away. Mika never had any yellow, but she also never ate kibble. I did see a post where Heather said, that too much chicken in their diet will make them yellow, but I don't know if that's a guess or has any science behind it.
Maybe to build up Evanna's appetite, you could try offering her breakfast and then when breakfast is over, put away the food until dinner. You could still leave a plate out overnight, but see if going a few hours between meals will help make her more hungry. If she was insulinomic, I wouldn't think of suggesting that, but she isn't and it couldn't hurt to try it for a day or two.
Remind me, what is on your menu for today?

EEEE! GUESS WHO ATE ALL OF HER FOOD BY HERSELF LAST NIGHT!? Bones and all! Can I get a hallelujer??? Im so happy! And I didn't know that kibble caused yellowing too. Do you how long a detox should approximately take? Awe, but chicken is the best (I love chicken) For breakfast its chicken wings and for dinner its supposed to be pork. I think I have some pork, but I have to check.

Huzzah (dance) Hip Hip Hooray (dance) and a big Hallelujah!!!! What a good girl. Now, try not offering anymore food until dinner and see if she gets good and hungry. She might be willing to eat a big dinner, then.
Detox takes a few weeks, I think with Roamy and Juliet, it was almost five weeks. Wynstan was the same, about five weeks.
Something that helps me with the weekly menu, is I have all their food stored in baggies in our second freezer. When I build the weeks menu, I go into the second freezer and pull out the baggies for that menu and then put them in our main freezer. At Night, when I am setting out their dinner, I pull the next morning's breakfast and dinner out and put it in the fridge.

Evanna (and you) are doing so well. How did she like the ground turkey and egg? You said she chomped on the bones of the CGH. Did you chop them some, and was it the wing?
She's eating right at about 2oz, and that's really pretty normal for a small female in the springtime.
Have you had to clip her nails yet? I have to clip my boys nails alot more frequently than Juliet or Mika's. Also, have you taken a look at her ears?

So far all shes had of the hen has been wing since its the easiest to cut up for me. I chopped it into tiny pieces, but she still had to chew them. That crunching noise was so awesome to hear.
Yeah her nails were crazy long when I first got her and I've cut them again since then, but its probably time to cut them again. They were looking a bit long this morning. The vet took a deeper look at her ears and said they were fine, but I'm not really sure what to look for. I clean the outer part with a qtip every so often.

The crunching sound is The Best. She's taking to this very well, quicker than I would have thought, given her age.
I check ears every so often, more now that mine are going outside. A little wax is normal, if the ears are black inside, then its time to check for ear mites. I wouldn't worry about that, just keep looking every so often or if she paws at her ears. I read on the forum, that a great way to clean ferrets ears is to put a drop of oil in the ear and then let the other ferrets clean their friends ears. I haven't tried that yet, and probably won't, but it sounds pretty cool.

Awe well for now Evanna will have to suffer through me being all invasive and cleaning her ears. I bet ferrets think we're really weird we poke and prod and post pictures of their privates and poops online

That's a good idea and if she like it that way, use less turkey next time and even less the next time.
None of mine like ground beef. I haven't tried mixing it with the egg yet, though. When I do beef, I will take some chuck roast or even a small piece of sirloin, and slice it thin. They like it that way and since they like the ground turkey with egg, that's the only ground, I use. I did buy some ground pork to try with the egg, I just haven't used it yet.
Are you following your menu? I took a look at it, to see what was coming up and didn't see any ground beef on it.
