What do you feed them?

Weeellllll.... They get mostly chicken hot dogs, bread and pizza crusts. When we have cooked chicken, some of them love it, some don't. The soft shells will take cat food from a spoon lol.
Originally, we started tossing floating catfish pellets to any turtles that got within range. Eventually we tossed them closer until the terps got close enough to offer pellets in our hand. Then we did some research and found out from turtle owners what they might like.
Leonard works for me. I watch Big Bang, too. Ironic that Dar doesn't, but she named Sheldon, haha.

Ruby is back. She's a Florida red bellied cooter (turtle). Haven't seen her since early fall. The older yellow bellies and red ears always seem to be coated with algae, but not Ruby. And another one of Amber

It's so cool that you feed turtles! I used to feed wild ground squirrels, they grew pretty nice and came when called. Isn't it so peaceful in the great outdoors? Unfortunately I don't have as much time to do that stuff as I did when I was 10 (stinkin' high school!) So do you have a favorite turtle?

Wow she is fast! What is it that your feeding them on the spoon? Just canned Cat food. This was sitting by the feeding beach this morning Another rat snake, this one about 4 ft. No wonder the ducklings keep disappearing.

OK, the other night I came in from feeding the turtles and there was a 3 foot rat snake in our screened porch. Looked like the one above, but smaller. The ferrets sleep out there, so if I ever seen another one it's the ax. Or shovel.

From Sea World to Desert world These guys aren't native, but there are a bunch in Florida. Apparently a few escaped from the circus back in the day. (Ringling Bros and Cole Bros are both headquartered in FL) Also apparently, 4 babies and their mother have taken up residence under our mobile home. I was under there doing some plumbing work and found numerous duck egg shells. These pics were taken in Dar24's flower garden. Dar patted a couple of them on the back so she could feel their armor and they barely flinched. They have poor eyesight and are easily approachable, but since they carry certain forms of leprosy you have to wash thoroughly. It's not easy to catch. I wish I had got video of the one that was sniffing at Dar a couple feet from her nose while she was sitting and observing. We saw all 4 kids but no mom today.

We hadn't seen Zilla the snapping turtle in almost a year. He made a brief appearance a week before our vacation, and now he's been there in the evening 3 nights in a row. I think he's grown a tad, he has some color on his carapace, and he's as handsome as ever.
