His head is enormous! Looks like he could do some serious damage to your spoon (or fingers) with those choppers!

Wow what a beast! Very impressive. Does he have some marks or something so you know it is him? Just wondering how you keep track of who is who after not seeing them for so long.

He's only nicked me once but it was enough to re-inspire caution. Generally we know them by size and behavior. There are three small soft shells that are similar in size. We can tell them apart by level of interaction. Otherwise there aren't any two that look a lot alike

Junior was tiny when we first saw him We didn't see him at all last summer. A couple days ago he was walking across our driveway so I picked him up, said hello and carried him to out pond. Today he ate from our hands, and he's never done that before. This is a video of Snow. She has 10 eggs due to hatch any moment. Anyone want ducklings? Chances are 1 or 2 will survive without help.

When I got her from someone off craigslist she was light as a feather and found that she had a severe hookworm infection. I bought some over the counter reptile peraside and fed it to her over the course of 2 weeks. The amount of worms that came out of her was unbelievable, but after those weeks she gained weight back and became gravid. That was her first batch of 3 that all hatched and I kept one of the babies. The 2nd batch was the one that was infertile and then I gave her to the wildlife refuge so she can enjoy a natural life with over a hundred other box turtles.

Well, Momma Snow, above, had 10 eggs in her nest as of yesterday morning. They were due to hatch any day. I just checked the nest and all the eggs are gone without a trace. It's possible the park manager removed them, as we had a conversation a couple weeks ago about there being too many ducks here. We were thinking about catching a couple and putting them on craigslist, but....

I was on my way out to run errands and I found a Yellow belly slider in the middle of our road. She had been hit by a car and her carapace was busted pretty bad, but when I picked her up she could still move all of her legs and neck. I called the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet. They rehab mostly sea life, including sea turtles, but they said they do all native Florida wildlife. So I ran her up there, about 45 minutes in pouring rain. I dropped her off (no prognosis until evaluated) and on the way home, maybe a mile from the center, I found this little one in the middle of the road, in the rain, at rush hour It's a Florida box turtle. No idea what sex because it never emerged. here is the front door

I'm beyond excited about this post. I literally found this little guy yesterday crawling along the middle of a packed parking lot in 66 degree weather.

I have no idea where he came from or why he would be hatching so late. The people behind me took him. She has had turtles before and stated she had a pond and property where he would be safe and happy. I really hope he is okay. I have nothing to make a home for a baby snapping turtle.
