I couldn't believe the circle thing....each was laying there chewing on the feet and tails of the one ahead of the other. I hope that no one gives Radagast any Rhosgobel rabbits....he eats everything if it moves or not....toes, fingers, siblings. He's so funny though because he's such a stoic little boy until his momma shows up and then the screaming is over the top. The two girls call to her but he just screams and follows after her like a little magnet. The funny thing about him is that he actually sleeps solo. You never find him sleeping with the rest. He's always asleep off on his own. This was probably the one thing that saved him from his brothers' fate. He didn't know that the food had been changed up. Boudicca and her sister are always together. Together they're very bold and play all over the nursery. They've now started running tubes and jumping at each other (though it really does seem to get stuck in mid jump and is a total fail). Momma Lola is starting their litter box training and is having about as much success as we do with older ferrets * She calls them to the litter box and they all come running pell mell and put their little bums in the litter box. Usually, they bump into each other and this starts a wrestling match, forgetting to use the litter box in the first place. Radagast seems to be the best at responding to the whole litter box thing and I've seen him use the litter box. Right now they do each have their favourite corner that they use on their own but as far as hitting a box, it's not happening most times. ciao

I've been calling this wee one Merida at the moment so that she does have a name but she's not accepted the name yet. She's just not ready yet. She's a handful and will not be ignored despite not having a true name. She rules her siblings with tooth and claw and will even stand up to her mother (this got her dragged off to the nest by her ear) As you can see, she's sulking because I told her she had to say hello. She will give me trouble, I think Radagast chose his name when his eyes opened. He's no fool but comes off as the bumbling baby and falls into trouble rather than creating it like his sisters. He's a solo baby, preferring his own company to that of his sisters. It may be self-preservation that speaks here as I did come in to find each of his sisters making a wish on his ears. Each sister having one of his ears and each pulling in separate directions. Boudicca though smaller than her big sister and now her baby brother is no slouch and stalks everything. She likes to hide in the tubes and dash out and grab your toes as you walk by. She also stalks her siblings, striking and running off before she gets caught. She's my little renegade. ciao

They are gorgeous and it's great hearing about their little (well, not really little) personalities as they emerge

I'm so glad that everything went well. You have a beautiful family of fur babies there. And I absolutely love that last picture you posted. I can't enough of seeing Loki yawn, especially after a busy day of playing

I can't believe they are this big already! The one in the first pic looks like a stuffed animal.

They're amazing looking! Poleys will raise heck, for sure! I sometimes scratch my head wondering why you decided to breed from poley stock your first time out, but hey, who wouldn't want one of those little demons? I know I do! Btw, what do they weigh? They look pretty big for 9 weeks, eh? How is the litter training? And, I'm glad you got pics of the snuggling Boudicca. It's rare for even some older ferrets to actually sleep in your lap. At least you have pics of one.

I'm busy listening to my little h*ll-raisers at the moment. They busy trying to figure out how to get an oversized crochet egg into the tube (basically putting a 6" eggy into a 4" tube. They'd probably succeed if they weren't so busy trying to beat the crap out of each other as who gets to pull the egg into the tube and who gets to push it (and yes they've got that much figured out). I have to admit, I could have chosen an easier first litter. Looking back on it, I should have possibly started with 'binos but I didn't and though it's been rough and at times, heartbreaking I wouldn't switch my little brats. I was stunned as to how difficult Lola was and how much she returned to her roots with babies around. She went from deciding to have her babies on my lap to being very, very aggressive where her babies were concerned and treating everyone with distrust and teeth. It was rather like having to adjust one's thoughts about allowing momma to look after her babies entirely. The only time she allowed me nest privileges was the night that her wee ones got so sick and we started loosing them. She knew she couldn't deal with this and allowed me to take the sick kits out of the nest. I have nothing to base my weights on really. They're all within 2 oz of each other, with Radagast weighing in at 1 lbs 9 oz or 494.42 grams, Merida weighing in at 1 lb 7 oz or 485.34 grams and the littlest one Boudicca at 1 lb 6 oz or 480.81 grams. All I know that all that these were the tiniest, so I'm going to guess that they're not that big. Momma Lola is loosing weight consistently, which is a good thing. She was being a very good polecat momma, cleaning up what was left over and not allowing old meat to contaminate the nest. My son and his girlfriend who were looking after the babies for a week, followed their instructions to the letter and never let the babies go for too long without food and if the bowl was empty to fill it. OOOPS.....so when I got home, Lady Lola resembled the goodyear blimp and basically could rock back and forth on her belly while her legs stuck out the side. She's now down to 2 lbs 14 oz from something close to 4 lbs (I was too scared to put her on the scales when I got home) She was 3 lbs last week at baby weigh in. I'm happy to say that with a restricted diet and running after wee babies she's loosing weight and once again bouncing and happy. ciao
