The rat didn't go over well last night. He wasn't interested. Instead of giving him a cavie, I left the rat overnight. He didn't touch it. He was good and hungry for his lamb this morning. He's eaten about 1/3rd of it. He's as active as always... he's been dooking a lot more than usual lately, too. I'll weigh him and get a picture tonight.

We weighed in at 2 lbs, 10 oz last night. Not a huge gain, but a gain nonetheless. Did not get a picture but the other one was just the day before, so. I know the spreadsheet is behind. I will get it all updated tomorrow while at work. He's been eating well with some left behind.

(wave) Ezra's been eating well again and weighed in last night at 2 lbs 10 oz, holding steady even with his smaller portions. If it's alright with you, I'll stop weighing him until next week, and we'll see where he stands. Activity levels are fantastic, poops are just as expected, and his coat is still nice and soft. Only thing is his breath constantly smells like mouse. Yuck. He's having his first taste of a cavie today. If all goes well, I think we should be all set. He's eaten everything else without a hitch (though you called it on the lamb... it isn't his favorite...) and he keeps surprising me with how much he likes his hearts and liver.

Sorry I've been absent.. working 14-16 hour days right now. Good for Ezra eating everything Weight is good.. I just wanted it check it again after the 2lb 9oz day to make sure it wasn't still dropping. I think you're ready to graduate. I'll get the "exam" to you in the next couple of days & then submit your menu for review.

How did he like the cavy?
Is he eating the whole quail now.. feathers and all? And no problems with any of his other proteins, right? Eating all bone, fur, everything?

I'm gutting the cavie and chopping it in thirds. He's eaten this without issue, all bones and fur. He's eating the quail, too, feathers and all. Those I just chopped width-wise, but the next one will be gutted and chopped length-wise I think. His poop was insane after the quail. Gross. It looked like a little creature. But yeah he's being incredibly well-behaved, and eating well. We've finally gotten back in a routine where he gets as much time out of the cage as possible and I think it makes a huge difference, the couple of extra hours we give him. He's been doing well and I weighed him last night at 2 lbs 10 oz, so no weight loss either. No problems with the other proteins or anything that I can think of.

Congratulations  :goodjob: You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone, now . You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days either Sherry or I will lock down this thread and place it in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly  (wave) . ciao

Congratulations! It's been great working with you and Ezra. He's such a little trooper, just taking everything we throw at him and eating it, lol. I'm just a PM away if you ever need me for anything. Adding little Laney to household in a couple of months will probably shake things up a little, but I have no doubt you'll do great getting her adjusted. (dance)

We couldn't have done it without your invaluable guidance. You're really a wonderful mentor. Let's just hope Laney is as cool as Ezra and it should all be a downhill slide!
