Maybe she doesn't like her litter box. What kind do you have?
Is your soup recipe, the one from the files? 8oz of chicken, 2oz of liver, a heart and some eggshell powder?
Are you ready for a grocery store run? I would like to see us, try some new proteins and get on a menu plan. Are you ready for that? We don't need to get very exotic to start. We do want to get a few different proteins and begin to work on Bone In meals. Don't worry about that, we will start out easy and keep her teeth, in mind.

Great! I'm glad you're excited, it really is fun, shopping for them. I love to say to the cashier, this is all for my ferrets. I get the funniest looks.
Have you read about the basic Frankenprey menu?

That's right. We will build Evanna a menu for this week, based on your shopping trip and then plan on following it, after you get back from the grocery store. What we are looking for, is: 7-9 meals of Bone In meat: that's based on two meals a day. That doesn't mean, we have to have 7 to 9 different proteins. We could do chicken wings, turkey wings, a cornish game hen and that's three different proteins.
3-4 meals of muscle meat. We want one of those muscle meat meals to be Hearts and then we will also have "half" a meal of hearts, added in with the organ meals. I'll explain later. Gizzards are great for building jaw strength and cleaning teeth. This is also a good place for introducing pork and beef.
A meal and a half of organs: To begin with, we can do a Organ Soup. We can use your beef kidney, some Liver and this will also include your "half" meal of hearts.
You have hearts, right? Do you also have Liver?
Do you understand this, so far?

Yes I have chicken hearts and chicken liver (she actually seems to really like liver). And everything sounds good what should I get from the store?

That's great that she likes Liver. Ideally, we will get her to eat chunks of Liver. You can decide if you want to give her organ soup or Liver chunks, a little later down the road.
I base my menus on what's for sale at my store and you can look for specials also. A good start would be some: Chicken wings: you will find a package will give you quite alot of meals. Evanna will probably only eat about half a wing, at a time.
Cornish Game hen (are you familiar with these?) Walmart carries them, they are about $2.50 and you will get at least 3 meals from just one.
Turkey wings. If you can't find those, you can also look for Quail.
a fatty cut of beef. If you want to buy a chuck roast, you can cut it up into 2-4oz sections and you will have quite alot of meals. Pick up some baggies and freeze the rest.
Pork: a fatty cut is good. You will probably end up with a package of chops and you can freeze the rest for other meals.
You can see how buying meat will give you alot of meals. Get some baggies, put the rest in the baggies and label them.
You said that you have hearts, and liver and a beef kidney. When you out and about, you can look for other organs. I'm just trying to keep your grocery list reasonable and get Evanna on a minimum of three proteins. On my first trip out, I got overexcited and over bought.
What do you think, so far?

I also have some more thymus... but I mentioned that it smelled a little weird? She had no problem eating it though. Okay so wings, game hen, and some on sale pork and beef? I found a package of mixed cut pork the other day for really cheap so hopefully I can find more. If theres no reasonably priced beef do I still need to get some? I dont really plan on feeding her it regularly since it is a bit pricey.

No, you don't have to do beef. Look at your meat specials and see what else would work. Then based on what you buy, we can put it in the menu as either muscle meat or Bone In. Bone In, means the non weight bearing bones of something that is the size of a chicken or smaller. Your area might have more options than I have here. Asian markets can be a great place for specialty or exotic meats.
I remember reading that your chopping arm is tired. You might want to look for a cleaver. That's what I use, and they can be pretty inexpensive.
I'll wait until our thread is built and then we can talk about posting a picture of Evanna and you can weigh her and we will post her weight on there. We will also want to keep an eye on her poops.
You did mention that the thymus smelled strange.
You can decide how you want to shop. If you want to buy a little and get a feel for what she likes, that's fine. If you want to buy in bulk, that's okay too. Its super easy to over shop (I know, I did) just keep in mind, Evanna doesn't eat much and we want to get her eating well, with what she does eat. Make sense?

Also, remember that I mentioned that I have just discovered that mine love ground turkey with an egg in it? It would be great to give Evanna an egg, once a week. You can look for ground turkey or even ground beef and we can put that on her menu.

I'm going to try to not overshop, but i tend to get a little excited about these things haha. So if we get her eating bones then I wont have to add eggshell to things?

That's right. The eggshell is a substitute for bone. We want them to eat bone, because there are nutrients in the bone (and marrow). The bone is kind of scarey to start with. At least, it was for me. My Mentor, Hurricanekatt started me off, smashing the bone into tiny pieces. Since Evanna is missing a tooth, I'm going to talk with the other Mentors and see what they think and make sure that we approach the bone eating, correctly.
