I always trust my nose, and if I wouldn't eat it, I won't feed it to the little ones. I've smelled alot of different meats and organs and if its fresh, it doesn't smell off. When you cook some things, like tripe, they stink in the cooking process but the Off smell, is a warning sign to me.
Evanna is eating about 2oz? Well, that's about average for a small female. Do you have a scale for her? I keep track of everyone's weight and watch to make sure that there is no unusual weight loss. There will be a weight gain towards Winter and weight loss towards Spring. My Juliet has her seasons backwards and is putting on winter weight and is wearing her winter coat.

hmm thats what I thought. I opened the package and it smelled a little weird, but I wasnt sure how it was supposed to smell so I gave her some.... her poops have been a little runny, but I figured that was because of the switch and they havent looked weird even after I added the thymus to the soupie mix. I'll make some fresh soupie in the morning and actually she looks a little fuller than when I first got her. If weight gain is even possible that quickly. She has a little tummy now and before she was kinda thin.

I'm a bit different- even if it smells slightly off to me, I'll offer it to them. They are built to handle a MUCH higher bacterial load. If it is TOO high for them to tolerate they simply won't touch it. If they refuse I toss it.

5/17/14 AM- 1 oz PM 1.25 oz We went to the park today! She loved digging in the mulch and running around! Pluss she attracted the attention of some little kids who now know what a ferret is! Shes getting really good about walking on her harness. She also walks pretty far I expected her to get tired quicker, but I think she has a lot of hidden energy from sleeping the day away I'll try to take her every other day or so since she really seemed to enjoy herself.

I'm so glad you and Evanna are having fun together!
You asked about weight gain.. it's absolutely possible for them to gain quickly, especially if they were not getting enough nutrients before. My little girl went from 13 oz to 15 oz in one day, morning to night. I thought it was a fluke or maybe I had read the scales wrong, but she just kept gaining. And just a little bit of gain on their tiny bodies is going to show up. My baby went from skin and bones to pudgy baby tummy almost overnight.

As soon as I put my hands on her I was sreally concerned. She was so bony :/ so I dont think she was eating enough/getting the right nutrients but shes got a little tummy now, even if she is still a little bony. Thanks gfountain for making me feel better!

5/18/14 AM-1.25 oz PM-1.25 oz today we went out in the yard for a bit and she thought it would be fun to try and dig up my grandmas lilies so I'll have to make her a dig box soon. She gets awfully messy digging in the dirt. I've been leaving what she doesnt want to eat (usually some chunks of meat) in her cage and she's been getting up in the middle of the night and eating it so YAY! I think maybe she likes her food a bit jerkified haha. Her soupie is now a thick paste and shes eating it like that consistently.

All of mine love their bits, Jerkified (lol). A dig box would be so much fun for her. You could do sand, dirt or even rice. The dirt box is pretty messy, though. You can also try a big shallow container with water and float some of those jerkified pieces. She might enjoy snorkeling for treats. Put a towel under the container, there will be alot of splashing.

I was thinking of doing rice since i heard it absorbs some of their oils and she's been getting a bit yellow haha. I heard that they poop less on raw. About how many poos do your guys have in an average day?

I scooped yesterday morning and then left the house for 16 hours. I had 5 little poops to scoop when I got home and a large pile of pee litter (my litter disintegrates and sort of clumps when it gets wet). This morning I had 3 or 4 poops and a little pee pile. That's about average for my two fuzzbutts. As opposed to their every-2-hours-mountain-of-poop when they were on kibble.
