He was eating too fast. that's not uncommon and he will choke up anything too large to swallow. They don't chew their food that much anyway, they just slice it up with their teeth. Feed them separately so you can keep up with how much they are eating and I need you to weigh them every week and report it to me. Make SURE you are adding the finely crushed egg shell in the correct amount. Feed them as much as they will eat, it's good for them. Just get human grade salmon oil, it's fine. Leave some food in the cage at night. The little one will need it. At that stage they are nothing but little bellies with teeth. Since you have the kit feed them three times a day. I'll check in later if you have any questions.

Cut the chicken wing tips into half inch sections and put it in the food.

I'm a bit confused. So your saying I should still feed the baby soup (the entire recipe) with these large sections of wings in it? Does that mean I should get boneless wings or is he fine to start eating bone?

You can hammer the bone in wing tips a little with a meat mallet, but yes feed them to both of them in addition to the soupies.

I'm sorry, I thought I was making myself clear. We want them to start on bone in meats also. In order to do this, mix the chunks of chicken wing tips in with the soupies. Don't forget to weigh them and report their weights so we can keep up with their progress.

I bought the wings today and Macaroon loved it! I don't have a meat mallet so I put the wing in a ziplock bag and beat it with a regular hammer. The meat got smushed but I don't think the bones broke too much. Ill have to invest in a m.m. soon. Since the wings are so big I split one in half and put the wing with its bone into the ferrets soup bowls that already contained 2 cubes of soup. JP ate what he could find of the cut up meat soup, but didn't want the wing. He licked and took a small part of the wing to a corner, but just left it there and went off to play. Macaroon on the other hand was munching away on the soup and the wing. I heard him chewing at the bone, but I couldn't tell how much bone he ate since it was mixed up with soup. -How do I get JP to eat the wings/bone and not just lick at them/leave them aside? -Does Macaroons progress mean he is ready for the basic Frankenprey menu? thanks

Yes, I believe we can start Macaroon on frankenprey. We'll have to start increasing the amount of bone in meat for JP so that he can't avoid having to eat it. He's already eating small chunks so start mincing his meat up by hand and mix it with the bone in pieces. Use the salmon oil to entice him to eat. I'll prepare a frankenprey menu and post it tomorrow. You're doing great!

Ithink I'll let you work out your own menu and then I'll go over it with you. For bone in meats I would use chicken necks, backs, or wing tips. For the muscle meats I would use beef, pork, lamb or venison. Organs are liver and another secreting organ such as kidney, brain, or thymus.Monday am: edible bone Monday pm: edible bone Tuesday am: edible bone Tuesday pm: muscle meat Wednesday am: edible bone Wednesday pm: heart Thursday am: edible bone Thursday pm: edible bone Friday am: edible bone Friday pm: muscle meat Saturday am: edible bone Saturday pm: muscle meat Sunday am: edible bone Sunday pm: liver/organ

For Jp: You're saying mince the chicken thigh, heart and liver by hand and add some wing/bone it that. I know what minced meat looks like, but I am not sure how to do it by hand? I have been cutting them into bigger cubes for them and JP has again choked up a chunk of meat. Are you saying cut up into smaller pieces and stuff small bits of bone into it? Sorry I don't handle meat often so I tend to get confused in this area easily. .
Also, for muscle meat, for right now I am thinking of using chicken gizzards or chicken heart because thats what I have on hand, is that ok? And when it comes time to giving macaroon heart and liver how much do you recommended that I give him?

Yesterday, I Minced Jp's wings/bone into small pieces and added that to his soup and mixed it well. There is not any big visible bone, but he still refused to eat the soup and he did not have a big breakfast either. He only ate 2 cubes of soup for breakfast yesterday. This morning he wouldn't touch his food either. I had to scruff him to get him near the food and spoon feed him. Then when he did eat he would spit out any small bits of bone. This morning he only had 4 small spoons of food and ate nothing last night /:
The baby is doing well. Yesterday, I hammered his wing and gave him soup too and he was content, although he didn't finish all of his food. I am going to start on his frankenprey diet today. The schedule says bone in meat so I gave him a wing. I thought he may eat it without me cutting it up, but he looked confused and was upset that it was too big for him to carry in his mouth, so I cut off bits of the meat and left some still on the bone.
I've noticed that he does not eat the bigger bones, but will eat the smaller ones that are at the end of the wing. That should be fine right, considering he's a baby.

I have really bad news, I can no longer keep my boys at my apartment. My landlord saw me leaving the building with the boys and told me that I need to get them out of the apartment or she will have to find a new tenant. The only person whom I know with a house that would be able to care for them in the meantime is my sister, but she does not want to feed them raw. She doesn’t have the time and lives too far for me to travel to her everyday.
I’m really upset about this, but am mostly worried about their health. I know kibble isn’t good for them, but what If I mix two high quality kibbles and try to feed them live prey on the weekends when I see them?
Before you are done being my mentor can you tell me if there is a proper way to get them onto a high quality kibble and what you consider to be the best brands? (I think I know of a few, but would appreciate your insight).
Also, could you explain how to give Macaroon live prey and have him eat it and if you even recommend giving him live prey when I do see him?

Why don't you start them on some freeze dried raw like Wysong Ferret Archetype?
