My little Pooka, such a brave little fighter. Adrenal slipped into her life shortly after she moved in with me. Like a trouper she fought, for 2 years she rode the ups and downs that are customary with this disease. Most of her battles were waged against those horrible ulcers. She lost all her fur, well....everything except the fur on her tail and around her face and shoulders. My little naked fuzz, she bore that with dignity, never once being ashamed of her nakedness. She would wardance her way down the hall, dooking and wiggling in all her nudity. It was probably one of those ulcers that cost her, her life. On March 19th she finally lost the battle. I knew I was going to have to give my brave little fuzz the gift of travel, she no longer wanted to eat, no longer wanted to fight. She was tired, she only wanted me to allow her to move on. Even with this she chose her time. She always was a stubborn little fuzz. She waited for me to get back from work, she waited so that I could hold her and help her on to her next great adventure. A couple of soft little kisses and then my wee one was gone. My little wee one is once again whole, once again dooking. She did right up to the last few weeks, ran, played..dooked....she was so strong, so brave. She loved all her people, other ferrets...well...not so much. We tried to find her friends, it just never happened, they all didn't fit. She only had one friend, her grumpy, old fuzz friend Babushka. They are once again together, sleeping together under moonlit skies. Grumping at each other for stealing the blankies. I'm sure that hasn't changed. I can't even imagine them playing but I can see them prowling around, muttering about the weather, digging and rustling around in the damp leaves. I miss you my brave little girl. Goodbye, little one. Gentle journey, until we meet again ciao

Sorry about little pooka. She's now up there with all the other weasels that have passed away from these horrid diseases. Hopefully, one day soon, they will find the cause, or the trigger to stop these things.

She was a very brave little girl. And she loved so much! Now, she's back with her friend Babushka, and simply enjoying the fresh air, the green grass, and being healthy again. DIP little miss Pooka

Thanks guys. She was a special little girl. The person who left her had no idea how special she was. She was Babushka's protector (oh they fought and argued, they were turned in together) but they really cared for each other. I thought I would loose her when Babushka passed on but she took it in stride. Moved on. that's how she was. She was an old lady when the adrenal set in, 8 yrs old....2 yrs later she finally let go. She was a sweety. She never tried to bite me, even when she got her Des implant...she did give up right proper though. Chewing us out in fertish. ciao

This brought a smile to my lips - your sweet little Pooka. She sounded like a truly one-of-a-kind ferret. My heart goes out to you in this sad, difficult time. *hugs* I have lit a candle for you and for Pooka.

I'm so sorry Heather. I can only imagine the heart ache you've been through lately. May your heart be lighter knowing how you've changed the lives of so many little fuzz when they needed the love of a forever family, you were there. Love and peace to you and your business with this latest loss.
