Hi! I was wondering what is some types of scales people use for weighing their ferrets. And how do you go about weighing them? ? Thanks for your input! I'm currently trying to fill all the requirements to sign up for a mentor and need some advise.

Hi! I've heard on here about people using a normal bathroom scale. Just weigh yourself, and then weigh yourself while holding your ferret. My scale works in lbs with 0.1 increments (digital) so you may definitely want to get something more accurate if yours rounds up or down a pound. Hope this helps!

I thought about getting a scale for both, since I need one for the food anyway, but I am thinking he wouldn't let me weigh him without holding him and wouldn't that throw off the weight? Hmm.

Zero out a plastic container large enough to hold the ferret. Put his favourite oil in one end, him in the other. Weigh while he is licking the oil

We have a digital food scale that goes to 5 kg and measures in US and metric. We found it at a discount grocery for $10. I used to have a digital postal scale, but the pad on the food scale is much bigger. I know someone that has a digital fish scale. She puts the fuzz in a harness and hangs them.

Thanks for the advice Sherry! That seems like the best idea for the squirmy little guys :-)

I use a kitchen food scale as well. It is very difficult to weigh a squirmy ferret so I usually weigh them while they're asleep.

I use a kitchen scale that goes up to 11 pounds, stick a bucket on there, tare it out, put in sleepy ferret or ferret with some 'tone and get a quick reading. Try to do it once a month.
