That's true, it might just be the smell. I will try that. Maybe even just sprinkling a bit on top to get him going on it. Silly boy. Thanks for the suggestion though

The kibble powder is a good idea. I have also learned that sometimes warm water or oil makes the new food more enticing. Mine don't like cold or cool food, but they will easily take something that was run under warm water. They don't like extra virgin olive oil, but will accept olive oil. They also prefer a plate to a bowl. I learned this from Bitbyter. The scruff and stuff doesn't work for us either, but I sit them on my lap and then put the piece of whatever on their mouth, which usually works.

There are as many methods to switch as there are ferrets, which is why sometimes all you really need is input What worked for me may not work for you and what worked with the last ferret may not work with this one. ciao

Yep, you just have to play around and try a few things.

I do usually add warm water to 'soup' it up a bit, also to make the kibble wet. I am going to try the kibble powder. If that doesn't work than the plate. I use a little Tupperware bowl, maybe he doesn't like it. I can't get him to eat with he holding him or out of the cage at all very well. He's still too busy and also not very 'tame' yet. We are working on the trust thing still, he is a bit difficult in that area.

Calendar updated docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiXMUs5LYCDddEo4M2xvVWhWR0tjV3lUelYwX18yVEE&usp=sharingALL THREE NOW are on full raw! So far no issues with allergies or anyone being picky and not eating certain things. Now I just need to make sure my menu is balanced and get more proteins introduced to the new guys. I, of course, still can't wait to get a mentor to ask some questions that I have here and there. This morning I put in about 9 oz of chicken wings and everyone went to town. Even tiny baby Ruby is eating the bones like no ones business! (pun intended... ) I had some issues with getting Pepe to eat heart last time it was offered (looking back, I think he was just eating Oliver's soupy instead, MUCH easier mommy) so I was hesitant to only give heart yesterday, but I did and to my surprise it was all gone when I got back from work! Pretty large pieces... about 1x1 inch thick and 2-3 in long. No one starved to death and was active and played all afternoon! Hopefully we have the same luck on liver and kidney day! My goal for this weekend is to go look for some new stuff! We have CGH, duck, chicken, beef, and pork rotating on the menu so far. I would really like to try and find some goat, sheep, and rabbit. Like with the duck, I will just buy a bunch of it and cut it up and grab baggies here and there to feed. As long as I keep my freezer stocked and a bit organized (ie hearts in one shopping bag, bone in in another, etc) I can easily grab a weeks of pre-made baggies and stock the kitchen freezer for the week. Honestly, now that I have it prepared, this raw thing is not too hard! My babies are sure loving it!

I love that chart. That is so easy to read and tell at a glance what is going on. No, raw isn't difficult, but it does mean you have to think about balances. Notice on your chart...you fed hearts...mentioned, looser darker stools and a solution..bone added with it. It's so simple. ciao

Thank Heather, simplicity was definitely what I was going for... I like to have everything in one place to view. I have a note book that I keep in my purse that I jot down notes (how much I fed, weights, anything unusual) and I transfer it later into the file for easy viewing.
Any suggestions or changes that need to be made?

Thanks Stef! I really can't even take credit! Oli was well on his way there and I think Ruby just gave him the push to start on the bones! He literally was barely weened off of kibble powder being added to his soup the week before to eating BONES like he had been his whole life!
But I truly appreciate everyone and everything you have done! I feel like such a good ferret Mommy and it is all thanks to you all! I just can't express how thankful I am for people like you all and what you are trying to do in this 'community.'
