He might just not like it. They do have likes and dislikes as we do. Try a different protein with him and see how he does. Lamb and goat are two others. Not sure what other meats you can get there? With Esmerelda thicken her soup up by adding in some ground meat if you can get it.

Morning Sherry, I'm back and we made the move in one piece! I'll post last weeks food etc a bit later as I've only just woken up, but things are going quite well. No massive changes, but they seem to like the new house which is good!

Here's my weekly update 1. Ferret's name:Esmerelda 2. Ferret's weight:0.9Kg 3. Still the same with Es, she'll eat a bit of the soup on her own, but mostly waits to be spoon fed. We're still giving her biscuits at night. 4. Standard kibble poos at the moment. 5. Activity levels:High. 6. Weekly menu:Raw soup during the day and then kibble at night. 1. Ferret's name: George 2. Ferret's weight:1.5Kg 3. George has eaten 2oz amount on average per meal, though he is hiding some in his cage but most is getting eaten. 4. His stools are better this week. A bit larger and firmer. More like actual poop! 5. Activity levels: Still a little bundle of energy. 6. Weekly menu (George gets 2 meals a day of about 2oz each meal and I've also got him on quite big chunks): Monday: Chicken gizzards and pork Tuesday: am: Liver & Heart pm: Ox kidney (He wouldn't really eat any of this) Wednesday: am: Rabbit & Chicken pm: Turkey Thursday: Turkey Friday: Chicken Gizzards and Raw Soup Saturday: Chicken & Bone Meal Sunday: Turkey & Bone Meal Esmerelda has been having a cube of soup twice a day. She will eat some on her own, but mostly we have to hand feed her. She doesn't like it with rabbit mixed. Am going to try and put a bit of pork in with the next batch and see what she thinks! All in all it's slow going but they are doing ok I think! They love their new home and have been exploring for the last few days and our new housemate loves them too! I also finally organised the meat freezer as it was driving me potty. I think it looks a lot better now. It will be even neater once I've used up the rabbit squares and turkey necks, though it may take a while as neither of them seem to like them at all!

Sorry I forgot to respond yesterday! Was going to and just got busy Anyway- with little Miss Esmerelda it is now time to start training her to eat on her own, stubborn minx that she is Dish on floor. Sit with her there, and keep doing the lowering the spoon thing and slipping it away consistently every time she starts licking from it. What this is going to do is teach her to lick from the dish with the prompt of the spoon. We'll get rid of the prompt later. If necessary rest your hand lightly on her back so she still feels "held" and doesn't try running away. Also- get her playing before one of the meals at least so she really works up an appetite. For George let's also start with him on bone. Pick up some wings(if you can access wing tips all the better). Segment them, cut the middle between the two bones. As much as possible cut the drumette lengthwise along the bone to expose as much of the marrow as possible. Try offering like this and see if he attempts to eat it. If so great, if not just chop it up.

Thanks Sherry, I'll start that now with Es.
I'm off to the market today so will see if I can get wing tips, but I have a feeling it will be just wings, is that ok? I'll get on that. I also tried George with a Pinky yesterday. Initially he seemed really interested, but after a bit of a chew seemed to not want it again!
Oo thanks for the liver tip. I'll try that.

Ok we seem to have backtracked with both of em now. Es won't eat the soup. I did put a small amount of ox kidney in this batch so it could be that. George is leaving his pork, heart and gizzards and will only eat chicken meat- argh!!!
I've tried him with the chicken wings and he just carried the bits away and then didn't eat them.

This is normal Keep on with the soup as it is, she'll get used to it. With George don't give him chicken meat unless it is heart, gizzard, and wing. You may have to chop it up for him into sizes he's used to silly boy.

Here's my weekly update
1. Ferret's name:Esmerelda 2. Ferret's weight:0.9Kg 3. Backtracked a bit. She doesn't really seem to want much soup. Still giving her biscuits at night. 4. Standard kibble poos at the moment. 5. Activity levels:High. 6. Weekly menu:Raw soup during the day and then kibble at night. Spoon feeding the soup.
1. Ferret's name: George 2. Ferret's weight:1.1Kg 3. George has also backtracked a bit this week and has been leaving loads of his food, favouring hiding it over eating it unless it's chicken meat. 4. His stools are like actual poop, smaller than kibble poos. 5. Activity levels: Still a little bundle of energy. 6. Weekly menu: Monday: Chicken + liver (Not much eaten, just chicken so about 2oz) Tuesday: Heart + chicken Wednesday: Pork (A few chunks eaten at the most) and some raw soup (about 2oz) Thursday: Pork (Didn't really eat any, even hand fed and he just hid it.)Raw soup (about 2oz) and some chopped up chicken wing (He just hid this and didn't eat it) Friday: Chicken Gizzards and bone meal (He left most of) chicken chunks (about 2oz) Saturday: Chicken & Bone Meal Sunday: chicken& Bone Meal
We sorted some more meat today so will lay off the chicken meat for now and try to give him only the other stuff. I'll try hand feeding too as he seems to respond to that a bit more. I'll also keep trying Es on the soup.

On your next day off leave esmerelda with no kibble at night. Try to make sure she is filled up on the soup, and leave some in the cage for her. Next morning at the regular time get her out and offer it to her then. Same with George but with any meat but chicken. Time for a wee bit of "tough love"
